Canucks and Avs will be a fierce rivalry and that's why Canucks shouldn't trade Virtanen to the Avs.  Gaudette and Virtanen as our third line depth is how the Canucks will beat the Avs in a seven game series.   It may not happen till Podz joins the team tho.

Absolutely... Include Madden, and Woo as well.  High character, high compete with skill.  Looking at Rathbone too... Just around the corner!

Broberg is definitely a Holland kind of pick.  Seems like it could take a decade to turn the Oilers into a Holland kind of team.  Not sure it's going to work, Oilers seem too much like a mixed bag right now.

Exactly... Not a team with the right complimentary players.  Thats why I think the Avs and Nucks have the right type of players to play the style their systems are asking of them.  Like you say it will be a lot of fun over the next decade or so.

Oilers will become a force. Yeah it's fun to pick on them now but there's no way McDavid won't bring them a cup

With McDavid and Draisaitl you never know.... But it takes a team to win and I'm not sure if Edmonton will get the right pieces together under the cap to win while they have those two.  Today was a good choice for them in Broberg.  We'll see what Holland can do.

    Colorado got Newhook and Byram!

Going to be a lot of future WCF between the Avalanche and the Canucks

Thinking the same thing myself.  Balance of power in West (starting next year) will start with.... Unfortunately the Avs, then in a couple years the Canucks.  We'll see but I don't believe any of the other teams (in the West) will be built to win like these two teams going forward the next 5 to 10 years.

Just knowing that JB needs this team to do drastically better or he loses his job I can see him making a dumb move, he's made lots haha. You're right though, the sky isn't falling yet. It just seems like he's gonna make more bad decisions this offseason to try and get 2 home playoff games. I'll let the day playout before I get too excited though. Got myself riled up with the hypothetical but you're right.

I hope your concerns don't come true!... I hear yah though... I just hope he's learned from the past and doesn't feel he has to make a big splash at the expense of our future.

Awful trade if true, Benning would sabotage a rebuild for a chance at squeaking into the playoffs. When will this team do things the right way? Even on draft day, when a team of our calibre should be excited, the team puts a dark cloud over fans heads. Trading picks is the last thing we should do, although Benning loves doing it. Bringing Chiarelli in? Can Aquilini just sell this team already. Poorly run from ownership down it seems.

Marv... Jeeze man.  Take it easy.  The sky is not falling.... Well not yet lol!  There's a lot going on.  Just wait and see what REALLY happens and then you can scream bloody murder.

You start off with a reasonable opinion and then fly off the handle like the trade has already taken place... "When is JB going to get it right... Just sell the team already!"  Thats going from 0 to 100 before you're even in the car man!

Was that lippy? Very sensitive. New account because I lost my information for the last. I've agreed with Alf alot on that old account. He was just wrong about someone's skating so I mentioned it and then someone else dropped a ton of scouting reports. Was this lippy too? Must be a millennial haha.

No not sensitive... Just being lippy myself... Just having fun... Welcome I guess... again?  For the record I agree with you.  This whole forum is almost completely speculation and opinion... I find it entertaining.  Alf's one of my favs with some of the most outspoken opinions. And just so you know I'm a gen X guy.... AND I'm sensitive!  So be nice!  Lol

Alf, you're getting very picky with your argument here. He's a good prospect that you don't like. Stop trying to find a comparable, he's small, there haven't been many at his size but that doesnt mean he can't or won't buck the trend. All individuals are different and the comparisons are crazy. I love it when you're watching the draft and guys taken in the 2nd and 3rd rounds are compared to hall of famers. Caulfield has fantastic traits, you just prefer someone with size, the end.

Getting lippy with your elder there hey newbie?!  Lol

The marketing and management are CLUELESS! That's why! Brain dead! The logo sucks! Reminds one of the DORCA BAY, Messier, Keenan days which was an absolute failure. Stick in rink would've done fine as a primary along with JC as an alternate!

I get it!  I think you need to dress up in all of your JC regalia and take some selfies!  And post them in Twilight Sparkles 'post your face' thread.  We can visit you there...

  10. I will temper my expectations... Though he is massive and (at the time) skated well for a big guy, the NHL has gotten even faster since he left.  Will he be able to keep up?  Pivot effectively to block out players in front of his net?  His reach is his biggest asset.... Similar to Chara's, but without the edge, experience in his game will that be enough?  Lots of questions... Very much worth the trial once/if he comes over.

i like the third jersey. i think it will grow on people once it is seen on the ice.

    I concur.... lol!

The 'lack' of white on the sleeves and and lower trim actually keep the focus on the white in the logo and collar... Really makes it pop.  Logo will show well moving down the ice.  The 'C' is now distinctly noticeable from a distance.  The new stick is almost cartoonish but works...  At least it doesn't look like a twig anymore.

Couldn't agree more. The achilles injury scares me a little bit, but I would love Krebs at 10. There are many guys that I would be okay with us picking at 10, but the 4 realistic options I would be most excited about are in no particular order; Krebs, Zegras, Boldy, and Newhook. My ranking of those 4 guys changes almost daily haha!

Took the words right out of my mouth lol!!!

Broberg being the only defencemen (at #10) I'd include with this group.

    no shade thrown at all

I jest... It's funny after a day where Buttons draft 'analysis' comes out all stock value changed.

I get that they take different angles to categorize and rank the prospects.  Button knows how to promote water cooler talk tis' all.

According to Button Soderstrom has high Bustaroo potential.  I do wonder about Caufield and Zegras being so high though.

Button knows a lot more than most of us here, so he's likely closer to what the kids will really turn out like after they develop.

It's common knowledge that the US development team this year is the deepest and most talented team they have ever produced.  As many are saying, 5 of these player may be chosen within the top 10.

However, I am wondering if Botton is a little to focused on that group and not giving enough credit to some of the other high-end talent in this draft e.g.) Dach, Cozens and Turcotte.  All of which are C's.  I just don't see these three falling out of the top 10.  Regardless there will be someone dropping to us that we have higher in our rankings.
