  1. OEL (IMO) and Miller are our two biggest goofs right now that are going to eat us. That said - I think if I remember my math correctly from when I was pondering if an OEL buyout was a good option - it turned out to not be. It would only free up 1 or 2 mill. I think there was also an article somewhere on that. I think it would help us free up 7 M this season, 4.9 M season after, then 2.4 M the following 2 years, finishing with costing us 2.1M a season from 27-28 season through to 30-32 season. I think…… Short term gain long term pain? I would rather see him traded (IF possible because of his NMC) to a cap floor needing team for picks. Even 3rd rounders lol. Just get him off the roster. Miller MAY be OK but only if he can still play well, and play like a team player and fix his ego and personality issues. If we had the opportunity to only get rid of one, I would get rid of OEL.
  2. Just a thought - and I could be wrong - but Scheen’s wife is very pregnant and due on the 3rd of March. It is highly possible that he came back to Vancouver for the birth of his child vs being traded…….. Just a thought
  3. I may be dating myself here. But I can’t help but notice the biggest constant in the Canucks. I have seen so many Management, coaching, player changes through the past few decades and not much changes yet still. So I have begin to really wonder/believe it isn’t entirely ALL management. Management is just the current puppet of the day for ownership. OWNERSHIP is the biggest problem. We could have had the entire staff (players et all) of Tampa and we would still be bottom of the league because of our stupid ownership. I might still be biased because I do like JR and what he brings to the table, but I also was a huge Boudreau fan. Allvin I am unsure about…. Signing Miller over Horvat over the summer was a huge misstep, or at least to the length and amount they signed him to.
  4. I am at work and couldn’t watch the match live - recorded it at home. I know the final…. I am not happy (being half Croat and half Dutch) but did Argentina at least show a bit a class this game as opposed to their match against Holland?
  5. Hi all, I am trying to make my home “smart” I had two CE Smart home switches but they suck to put it mildly. I know its expensive, but I was looking at the Phillips Hue system. The bridge would obviously be needed, but this is where I am confused. The Philips website says a bdige does up to 50 lights. I could be over-thinking but is this 50 light bulbs or light fixtures? For example in my living room and hallway I have two ikea track lights - 5 light bulbs each, my kitchen has a track light with 6 bulbs. That’s 16 lightbulbs right there. Bathrooms have fixtures with more than 3 bulbs… I would assume this is fixture vs bulb, correct? And what if one hypothetically had than 50 fixtures in their home? Would they need more than one bridge? Contrary - if anyone has better idea to create a smart home lighting system compatible with Amazon Alexa I would welcome the suggestion. Some basic info - my home is approximately 3000 sq ft two floors, I am on 1G Telus with the new WIFI 6 router set up they have.
  6. I don't know if this victim does - I mentioned downs because I friends who's children have it, my spouse has a cousin with downs and so many write off people with downs as being just special needs and do not see the amazing talents that each has. Much like autism, lots are great at math, or art etc, but because they communicate/act/look etc differently than neuro-typical they are labeled as "slow", or "special needs" or worse "retarded" In this case, Isaiah Meyer-Crothers (Mitchell Millers victim) I don't think his disability was ever published. Nor should it be, that is a personal thing. But I do recall reading that Miller continuously called this kid the N word, and the physical bullying was from the 1st grade onward. Long enough for something to have been done... So again no excuse - age and youth are no excuse in this punks case. I also read that Miller only had to write a court mandated apology but he has shown little remorse for this actions (remorse for his consequences but not his actions towards the victim)
  7. Seems about right for the Bruins organization. The Bruins, Blackhawks, and now Oilers don't put much stock into morality. The douchier the better for these organizations. I don't care if this punk did this as a teenager or younger - you know better than to do that. One would have to live under a rock to not know what bullying is or why it is wrong, let alone bullying someone with special needs. Signings like this make me sick. I am not saying I am entirely for cancel - culture but consequences should be signifcantly more dire. This punk should be banned from NHL, or juniors. Same with trash bags like Kane (take your pick Evander or Patrick), Slava Voynov, Steve Downie, etc. Should not be on contracts Though as an aside I prefer the term Neuro-divergent - I find it more inclusive with less negative connotation of someone being "less-than". Regardless of the diversity there is always an area a person excels. Be it someone on the spectrum, someone with downs, etc.
  8. My guess middle 6 centre? guessing 3rd line future.... My hope is he develops more. He has bulked up a fair deal.
  9. Articles like these make me both happy and worried at the same time. It shows the progress we have made but also sadly it shows how much more we need to still do to make sport inclusive. https://www.sportsnet.ca/soccer/article/english-soccer-player-jake-daniels-comes-out-as-gay/
  10. Can someone please explain what Marchand must have on the refs, and NHL Disciplinary committee? How does a repeat offender get off with a tiny little fine? More over how is this goon still a pro-hockey player
  11. Since aquiring Miller, I would have to say Miller brings more to the table that Boeser. I was excited to have Brock way back when, but his attitude is what gets me. I didn't see enough fight like Miller and Garland showed this year. Even Horvat for that matter.... I would not be upset if we traded him. Honestly, if we keep Miller I would love to see the "C" on him. He brings the leadership the team needs.
  12. I watched Martin last Saturday against Laval. I was very impressed with him. He had great positioning, and hockey IQ. He also displayed great patience. He has a nice big frame too! He wont be an elite starting goalie, but he will be a great backup that should be able to handle a far bit to help Demko. Halak was good in his prime, but he is getting too old, and sitting out so much isn't great for him. Where as Martin will be ready to play, and will learn a lot with Demko. I am so happy about this signing.
  13. Watching Kaye's Red card was a bit soft.... Should he have lost his cool after getting one yellow? nope. but Fudge Venegas dove like he was thinking he was Neymar. They played well enough with 10 men on the pitch but ooff it was hard.
  14. This is such a slippery slope. I understand the initial reactions to those supporting Russian's born players having their contracts revoked and be sent back to Russia (and or Belarus) BUT... let's think this through.... How is it different than how the allied forces treated and interned all Japanese people during WWII? We all agreed it was not right for us to do that? So why would it be right now? That all being said, from an economical and military tactics point of view, all these sanctions the world is imposing on Russia and Belarus are not to "hurt" Putin directly. Full out war is not just detrimental to soldiers, but also long term economics, and inflation etc. etc. Let alone diplomatic relations. Which is why Canada is only sending military equipment to Ukraine and imposing the sanctions. The goal of the sanctions is to "flush" out Putin from his own people. Eventually enough Russian people will get fed up and will be at a life/death situation (starvations, economic collapse) that they will turn on Putin, from even within the Kremlin itself. How long that will take no one knows. This tactic though does raise the same question about Russian players in the NHL.... Innocent Russian's are being threatened by a dictator many do not even want. Is it fair to punish them as well? Myself? I hate the idea of innocent people being hurt regardless of their citizenship. I am very glad I am not having to make these decisions, but I also don't think just because you are Russian you should lose everything. In the case of some of the NHL players (Ovi) who have made VERY clear political opinions on Putin (Ovie is buddy/buddy with Putin and even campaigned for him) Maybe.... Guys like Malkin who are US citizens etc not fair to punish them.
  15. When I heard this interview with Wirtz and he threw the temper tantrum and said "We're not going to talk about Kyle Beach" it made me think of the disney song "We don't Talk About Bruno" and now everytime I read a headline of Wirtz's comment its read to the tune and like "We Don't Talk About Bruno"
