I don’t really think that Tippett is a terrible coach. I just think he would have been a better fit elsewhere. I was actually concerned that Hitch would impose his will on the Oil and drag them kicking and screaming into the playoffs. If a guy like Hitch can’t make that happen, it’s pretty hard visualizing Tippett having any better success, as he seems to have a similar coaching style. I could be off base here as Tippett may have the people skills to induce the Oil’s“ leadership” group to buy in and lead the rest of the team to the promised land. Stranger things have happened.

Finns rode a hot goalie to the championship. It’s been known to happen. Usually gets called miracle on ice or something like that. Getting outshot 21-3 in the third period is not usually equated to great coaching or solid defense. Usually it’s a recipe for disaster.

Jamito..... From your prior posts I take it that you live in or near Montreal. My son and I were at the old Forum today looking at those 24 Stanley Cup pennants won by the Habs. If you say that it’s time for a virgin to win, then who am I to argue. 24. Cripes that’s a lot. No wonder Bettman doesn’t want a Canadian team to win.

I’m glad to see that the Sharks have been ushered off the battlefield by the mighty Blues. The Sharks are so talented but choose to spend large parts of the game grubbing around for cheap penalties and bad calls. Not really the way to max out on the deep roster they have. The whole is less than the sum of the parts. Does anybody else remember the video of the in practice fight between Robert Bortuzzo and Sanford? I remember hearing Berube saying to “let em go”. I recall thinking what a huge moment that was. One that could either pull the team together, or completely lay waste to the team. Many on these boards, myself included, thought that this was the team hittting bottom, never to recover. Instead it turned the team around and it seems they have become nearly unbeatable. Funny how these things work out. Salut to the St. Louis Blues!
