  1. Can't wait for the Canucks to get roasted in every Eminem song going forward.
  2. Ehh, there's good breweries everywhere now. We're pretty spoiled in Vancouver given how much the craft scene has exploded here, but pretty much every town has at least one craft brewery at this point. If you're talking about the macro beers, Molson, Labatt, Kokanee, etc are just as shitty as Bud, Coors, MGD etc. Just don't dare insult Lucky to someone from the Island, they'll rip your head off.
  3. I don't care. I never understood the hype around wearing a practice jersey for 15 minutes before the game. And then charging 800 bucks for a blank one just shows what a cash grab it is. You can still have whatever theme nights you want.
  4. That’s why they overpaid Kadri and extended Weegar and Huberdeau to that behemoth deal before he set foot on the ice for them. Yes part of it was to replace the void left by Gaudreau and Tkachuk, but part of it was a psychological thing, they needed to prove that Calgary was still a place people wanted to play.
  5. Maybe they’re sick of all the 120lb accountants larping as cowboys.
  6. Part of me finds it very amusing that Calgary has such difficulty getting players to stay given how weirdly insecure and cocky Calgarians are about Cowtown.
  7. I enjoy how a discussion about a former Canuck signing a two way contract elsewhere somehow devolved into a debate over the moral implications of street justice.
  8. You’re right, that’s surely how it works. The Canucks should call Bedard an ugly dwarf and say he personally set off the 2011 riot, that way he’ll drop to us at 11.
  9. Nevermind that it isn't just the capitals scout You would have your employee bad mouth someone you want to hire in some nothing podcast in a language other than English in a country on the other side of the world in the hopes it Rube Goldbergs his way onto your team. Sound business strategy. Its crazy that no team has ever considered shit talking players they want to acquire in public before acquiring them.
  10. Sure, and the CIA really is trying to steal the brainwaves of that shirtless guy down by the gas station who is covered in pockmarks.
  11. Right like I said its all smoke and mirrors. But there have apparently been multiple scouts with similar stories, and it really makes no sense for a team employee to badmouth someone they want to join their organization, in Russian.
  12. Its being discussed ad-nauseum, just not here. Why is it not front and centre on a hockey forum? Truly one of the great mysteries of our time.
  13. That's the rumour. Interesting write up here in THN. https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/washington-capitals/takes/washington-capitals-andrei-nikolishin-scout-concerns-matvei-michkov-nhl-draft The Capitals Russian scout, who out of anyone in the league shouldn't be biased against a Russian phenom prospect, had this quote which raises serious alarm bells: "Full-fledged information is collected about the player: how he talks to partners, how he communicates with coaches, how he behaves off the ice. Many nuances can be revealed," Nikolishin told the Slippery Ice Podcast last week, as translated by Google Translate. "I can show correspondence when I wanted to meet him and, as a scout, ask a few questions and do an interview... I have not seen such disrespect for other people in my life." "For me, he's first or second [based on skill]," Nikolishin added. "But in character, in relation to teammates, coaching staff, management, fans -- a person has now fallen very low in the eyes of all scouts, all managers." Again, all hearsay. But I wouldn't be shocked if he's there for the Canucks at 11, and at that point it leaves them with a serious conundrum if they can't sit down with the kid and get a serious read on him before the draft.
  14. People really underestimate how much of your shot speed is based on your technique rather than your strength. If he learns to shoot with flexion it will improve.
  15. There's that, but there have also been reports for awhile now with NHL scouts in Russia having concerns with his character and difficulty meeting with him before that. And if they can't actually get any in-person interviews now, its hard to judge that for themselves. Factor that in with his contract status and the current geopolitical situation in Russia and I would not be at all surprised if he slid.
  16. Like any trade it depends on the package. If for example there is a player the team is really high on that will still be there if they trade back, and Canucks are able to ship out 11 with one of our myriad of expendable wingers in exchange for a later first, an additional pick and a serviceable defenceman, I think thats a deal they absolutely have to consider. I understand the appeal of the prospect and was on the "rebuild" train. However management has made it clear they intend to push all their chips in and improve the team as it is, rather than take a step back to take two forwards, so if that is your MO, this kind of deal makes sense.
  17. I dislike the two scoreboard set up Seattle has. I don't know, it just feels off. The scoreboard should be as central to the action as possible and not have divided attention between them.
  18. Yeah I would have thought so too but they've been saying that about Buffalo for years and years now. If there's one thing I've learned over the past decade of Canucks ineptitude, its that there isn't a linear, step-by-step, paint-by-numbers, guaranteed method of doing a rebuild. Vancouver still has the two best players under 25 on either roster without accumulating the horde of high picks Buffalo has. I agree that Vancouver should have tried to acquire more picks, but I think its other factors that left this team spinning it's wheels in the mud. I don't necessarily think that if the Canucks just cast off assets in favour of picks that we would be in a better position overall.
  19. We might be the worst team in the entire league over that stretch. Like Buffalo.
  20. Practice facility doesn't need to be downtown, and most teams practice facilities aren't. What is important is that its theirs, a facility that is essentially their home and they have control over. Whether its downtown, in Burnaby, Richmond, North Van, etc. is largely irrelevent.
  21. If you want to argue semantics instead of the actual point go right ahead but I can’t be bothered.
