  1. What I’m hoping the roster is: Ferland - Pettersson - Boeser Pearson - Horvat - Miller Baertschi - Gaudette - Leivo Virtanen - Beagle - MacEwen Motte/Goldobin Traded/Waived: Sutter Schaller Eriksson
  2. I would go with a shorter 4 year deal and then sign Boeser to a six year deal to take him to age 32. We all know not a lot of wingers hold up into their 30’s. At 32 Boeser still has one more long term contract from anyone willing to take a chance on him.
  3. Miller - Pettersson - Goldobin Pearson - Horvat - Boeser Leivo - Gaudette - Virtanen Motte - Beagle - MacEwen Roussel (IR) Edler - Stetcher Hughes - Myers Benn - Tanev Markstrom Demko Eriksson, Baertschi and Sutter traded.
  4. If we sign Myers, I would try hard for Ristolainen. Tanev Hutton (if resigned) or Stetcher Conditional 2020 2nd round pick (if we give up 2020 first then pick moved to 2021) The third pairing would be made up of two of: Stetcher (Trade dependant) Hutton (Trade dependant) Schenn (If resigned) Joulevi Rafferty Woo (If he surprises) Ideally Edler - Ristolainen Hughes - Myers Jouelvi - Woo Myers signing would be great, adding Ristolainen to the mix would be over the top.
  5. If GMJB is going the trade route for a top 4 D I would definitely save those assets for someone like Ristolainen or Colin Miller. But if he’s going free agency with either Myers or Gardiner then I would trade the assets for Zucker.
  6. Lee or Nyquist will also cost us close to 7 million if not more on 6-7 year deals. Would you rather give up assets for someone at a reasonable cap hit at only 4 years or overpay in free agency.
  7. We all know to land a top free agent we’ll have to overpay and I’m not for it. I think when guys like Hayes are getting paid 7 million a year the best route to take to improve our top 6 is the trade route. We all heard the rumours about Zucker, he’s signed for another 4 years at a reasonable cap hit of 5.5 million. So rather than overpay for Lee or Nyquist why not go the trade route and deal for Zucker? Miller - Pettersson- Boeser Pearson - Horvat - Zucker I would say that’s a pretty good top 6 and we can save ourselves from making another mistake a la Eriksson. By the way I’m not saying Lee and Nyquist are going to end up like Eriksson, I just want to avoid handing out these enormous free agent contracts. The only issue in dealing for Zucker is Minnesota is looking for immediate help rather than picks. Do we have the assets to make a deal?
  8. I’m all for it as long as it’s at a reasonable cap hit and term. Our top 6 would be stacked, a good mix of size, speed, and skill.
  9. If Johnny hockey can cut it in this league then who’s to say Hoglander can’t. The kid is only 18 he may still grow an inch or two. But nevertheless, with Podkolzin and Hoglander I’m giving GMJB an A+ through the first two rounds.
  10. Come to think of it I think this would work best for his development, hopefully when he does get here he’ll be one heck of a player.
  11. I read a comment earlier and it got me thinking. So, according to a CBA rule or something a NHL team can not buy out a KHL contract. However, I read that a player himself could buyout his contract. If this is possible, I doubt Podkolzin could afford to buyout his contract so why not start a GoFundMe campaign to help him buy out his contract. I know it’s sounds stupid but hey if it works we just got ourselves a top 5 pick ready to jump into the NHL.
  12. I for one really love the Podkolzin pick, his stock dropped a bit, not sure if it was the Russian factor or his performance this year but I’m glad it did and he fell to us. He checks off all the boxes we needed in our top 6: Size, Speed, Skill and he plays with an edge. However, with the rumours of the Canucks looking to move up in the draft and Ben Kuzma tweeting after Detroit’s pick the Canucks draft table did a mini wave (I’m assuming they were upset). Did the Canucks lose out on their guy, Seider?
  13. Is it just me or did the canucks draft table look depressed and red in the face before their pick. With the rumours of trying to move up in the draft to 6th, were the Canucks hoping for Seider? Did Detroit going of the board prevent the Canucks from getting their guy?
  14. Scratch that 6 million for two years without a NMC, GMJB nailed this one.
  15. You’re wrong, apparently he’s worth between 5 and 5.5 million for 3 years.
  16. Well, when you look at it from Edmonton's perspective, would you give up the 8th overall for Tanev a 2nd and 1 million in cap space? Also, Sekera is two years removed from a 35 point season, the last two years injuries haven't been kind to him. If he can stay health and get us 15-20 points I'd say that is a serviceable player. If he suffers another injury, we add him to IR or LTIR depending on severity and call up Sautner, Chatfield, Breisbois, Rafferty or Teves. But at the end of the day instead of walking away with one pick in the top 10 we have two.
  17. The draft is in Vancouver and I'm hoping the Canucks make a splash and trade for another lottery pick. A prime candidate to trade with is Edmonton; Edmonton needs help now and supposedly the talent level drops off after the 6th pick and some of those players may not be able to help a team this coming season. So what I propose is: To Vancouver: 8th Overall Sekera To Edmonton: Tanev 2nd Round pick 1st 2020 Edmonton is able to rid themselves of Sekera's contract and gives them a top four of Klefbom, Larsson, Nurse and Tanev. I added a first round pick from 2020 because Edmonton could just go out and try and trade the 8th overall for a younger top four defensemen. With this trade Edmonton not only acquires a top four defensemen, they shed just over 1 million in salary and get chance to make up for giving up the 8th overall and select in the lottery next year if Vancouver does not make the playoffs again. Vancouver on the other hand is able to absorb Sekera's contract for the next two season while also acquiring the 8th overall pick. With two picks in the top 10 the Canucks are able to draft a top rated forward and defensemen or try and move up into the top 3. Also, the Canucks could reacquire a 2nd round pick with another trade. What do you guys think, would this be a fair trade for both teams?
  18. I believe this is an ideal year to offer sheet a few players hoping one isn't matched. There are a quite a a few RFA's that I would love to have on our team but I would personally target the Maple Leafs and Jets as they seem to be in cap trouble with a number of key RFA's looking for sizeable raises. I would target Kapanen and Johnsson from the Maple leafs and Laine and Connor from the Jets. Wait, nope, I would also try to stick it to the Bruins and offer sheet McAvoy. What I would like to know is a team able to offer sheet multiple players? If so, what if two go unmatched how would the compensation work. Which team gets what pick? I'm assuming it's not possible.
  19. I would keep keep both players and pray to the hockey gods we can sign Adam Fox next year.
