Watching a highlight reel of breakaway goals and PP snipes hardly gives an accurate depiction of the level of physicality in the SHL. I watched more than a handful of their playoff games this year and the games were most certainly physical on a level comparable to NHL games - maybe even some of this year's playoff games.
EP took a couple games to adjust to the tighter checking and the opposition sending two or even three defenders to cover him at times and he responded by taking home the playoff MVP.
See how he drives his body INTO the opposing player on his empty net goal? Or how he dances around defenders trying to chop him down. He gets the puck and skates towards the net without fear.
Not saying there won't be an adjustment period in North America or that he could use some added strength to win board battles but I have no doubt the physicality will not be as big an issue as people make it out to be.
