  1. Not at all. Then again that is such a simplistic view.
  2. And the politicians invested in the pharmaceutical industry pushing for mandated vaccines and regular boosters.
  3. I'm going based off of what I read briefly about it. They suggested going 85-90% of your 1RPM which I was which is about that 4-5 rep range, I think. Without resting a few minutes between each set, there is no way I could continue to do this weight and would have to drop the weight. But I have no idea if it will work for sometime yet.
  4. Largely the case with the migrant boats across the Channel and the Mediterranean. I get why people call it an "invasion" but it doesn't help when it is predominately middle aged men coming ashore abandoning their families and so forth.
  5. US foreign policy in a nutshell. All administrations since 2001 are to blame for this. These morons can't get anything right - although at the same time I don't believe they went in there with the intention to improve the situation, or they're so grossly incompetent at nation building it is indistinguishable from &^@#ing the government, people, and country as a whole over. Nobody should ever trust the US again in these matters.
  6. Tempted to stay home from the university and keep working. Why should I put myself at risk, vaccinated or not, "just because."
  7. Because the government is so inept across all fronts. There is also potential the Afghans who risked their lives to help our guys may get stuck there and probably killed. Which I suppose doesn't surprise me considering this government has left its own citizens stranded in such situations already.
  8. I got past 185 into 225 many years ago doing weighted dips because those were a huge game changer. I haven't tried pause sets but rather continually stick with the heavy 4,5,6 rep sets because for the most part those work for me for the big presses.
  9. So I tried this cluster set and I did the weight I am stuck at: 2x2x2 2x2x2 2x2x2 2x2x1x1 20-30 second breaks in between the intrasets and then 3-4 minute break in between each set. Last week bench press wasn't great at this weight and I only got 17 reps out of it doing my standard sets before having to drop the weight. But yesterday I got 22 sets and probably could have done a 5th set for something like 2x2x1 but I wanted to try the incline with this as well which may have been counter productive? The examples I saw with cluster sets were circuit-like so it was bench, then row, then deadlift. I wasn't sure if I was to do with with flat and then incline or leave it at flat bench. What I read was you could actually increase your weight to a certain % of your 1 rep max and still do this. I might already be there with this weight because I couldn't do this with more weight. So I wasn't sure if I was supposed to try incline but I did anyway and I struggled to do the weight I normally can do after flat bench - I did "do" a set but it wasn't great. So I had to drop the weight. 20-30 second break between intrasets and 3 minute break in between sets. 2x2x1 2x2x2 (dropped too much weight & felt too easy) 3x2x2 (increased the weight a bit) 2x2x2 Then I did regular sets of flies and called it a day.
  10. No change on the return to the university for Monday. Emily Carr gets to go remote (somewhat) September 1. We haven't heard a thing yet regarding that.
  11. Oh, At the 5th or 6th rep for a heavy set, if I try to complete another I'll get half way or so and the spot will need to help enough so I can complete it
  12. Meaning what? I get stuck with the same weight with heavy presses for 4 or 5 reps for 4 or 5 sets
  13. How do you get around plateaus. I used to have this problem back in the day too when I was proper bulking. I'm not now necessarily. I don't eat a surplus of protein, rather I eat enough calories to slowly put on weight. I've gradually my bench press and shoulder press over the past few months but now I've hit a wall. Bench press for example I am banging out a half dozen sets of 4/5 reps. Since the start of the year I've increased it by about 50lbs. Occasionally I've thrown in a few sets of even heavier weight and 3 reps. I've done a few weeks of lighter weight for 10/12 reps. Trying to "confuse the muscles" and "change it up." I went back to try the heavy weight again the other day and I keep hitting that wall of not being able to make that weight feel more comfortable, or "comfortably" lift more than that. I'm considering going back to dumbell which will hopefully improve my bench with the bar, but beyond that I have nothing else to try.
  14. Olympics coming to an end.. CBC playing Coronation Street again..
  15. 11th overall in medal count/more gold. A step up from previous years especially when we look at where we floundered a few times when we could have challenged and didn't, but that's true across the board where favorites from other countries may have had the same issue.
  16. Mo Ahmed killed in the final stretch of the 5000m. When everyone else was starting to gas except for the first place guy, he stepped up another notch and went from 5th or 6th to 2nd. I found myself yelling at the TV cheering him on.. in my head.
  17. More or less. He plays the woke card and sucks up a lot of stupid millennial vote even though he has contradicted it numerous times while his voters do the whataboutism routine when confronted with negative, inconvenient facts about him as such.
  18. Bummed I missed the 10000m. I didn't hear a thing about it - and it's been 5/6 days since it was run. On a side note, does the CCP take kids right from the womb and stick them in a diving camp until they're of age for the Olympics? A 14 and 15 year old girl smoked the competition in the high dive competition - it wasn't even close. The first place girl podiumed without even needing to do a final dive and had perfect or near perfect scores most of her dives (over 460 points total).
