It's an excellent point. Getting a good shot at Bedard is a great consolation prize for a poor season. But some other folks gotta be realistic. Our chances of finishing last are worse than our chances of making the playoffs. We will finish around 5 to 10 from the bottom. So those folks that cheerlead to lose every game are kidding themselves. if you finish 5th or 8th from the bottom the statistical difference of winning Bedard is negligible and comes down to how the balls bounce. Meanwhile the players have to have some heart left for rebounding the next year.

What does Allvin do?

I hope they put a shoulder patch on their unis for the rest of the season.

Sure change the coach now and maybe we can win a few more games, still miss the playoffs, but finish 12th from the bottom and have absolutely no chance at Bedard. Good grief. Paraphrasing Duco from the good the bad and the ugly, "when you gotta tank, tank - don't win".

Ya it was impossible for Burke to wheel and deal and draft both Sedins. Impossible.

Bedard's goal in OT tonight was pretty clear evidence that he is a special player. Who is from here. Who wants to play here. After 50 years cheering for the Canucks can we just do what it takes to draft Bedard. Finish low and trade away our pick plus whoever it takes. The kid would give us a hometown, wants to be here, bleeds blue and green , generational talent.

I don't believe that you trade guys who are proven to play well with your top guy just because they will fetch a return. Trade Boeser before Kuz and buyout Pearson and Poolman to create space (assuming Poolman comes off LTIR).

I've had season tickets for years and have been to at least 7 - 12 home games a season for the last 10 years. I'll tell you what the problem is this year from first hand experience.. This team is not cohesive. There is no good leadership on the ice that the whole team follows. They don't act as one. On the road they are not under the microscope as they are at home. Home is where the lack of cohesiveness shows up. Voila terrible home record. Once Horvat is moved and a couple of bad contracts are moved or expire, they can start to come back up. Will take time though.

For years people on CDC said - well at least Benning for all his shortcomings can draft well. Some still say this inexplicably. He was an average drafter at best. And terrible at everything else. We don't have anywhere near as much young talent as we should have for the last 8 years of lousy results in the standings. Some people want to make excuse after excuse after excuse.
