  1. If nux are gonna go on a tear to end this year again, they need to start the next 20 games next year hot. I want Tocchet to be talking about that already. This isn't feel good time. This is time to build a team that can win starting at the beginning of the season when everyone wants wins - not the end of the year when half the teams are coasting or have quit.
  2. Boeser has 45 points on the year. His best season is 56 points. He may reach that this year. Interesting how a narrative takes off and everyone hacks on a guy but at the end of the day it may just be idle talk. I expect he will be back next year too. I also predict that next year he has his best season as a pro.
  3. If we finish 6 - 9 the Bedard chance is from 7.5% to 5%. The players taken in that range are going to be comparable. So I agree with you. If we go on a stupid run and finish out of the Bedard sweepstakes and out of the top 12 in picks that would be a disaster. But look. that is highly unlikely. 90% chance we pick 6 to 9.
  4. The best thing to come out of the trade deadline is clarity. This is a retool This is not a rebuild. Thankfully that should stop the endless rebuild commentary in the media cuz it just ain't happening. Like it or not for the next 3 years or so this management group is doing a retool. I'm ok with it. I am sick of the negativity in our amateurish media, so I want to see what management can do to build around Petey Hughes and Demko.
  5. Core: Petey Hughes Demko Solid support: Hronek Beauvilier Miller Kuz Mikhaev Bear Young roster: Podz Raty Kravtsov Aman Prospects: Lekkerimaki Hoglander Johansson Karlsson Klimovich D-Petey 2023 1st Bloom Silovs Jurmo Potential trades/buyouts : OEL Myers Boeser Garland Meh: The rest of them I am not as negative as some. I think this group gives them a chance to build and perform a retool that works. Doing a rebuild means getting rid of the core players and starting again. (Cuz the core players won't stick around for it). I don't agree with that as the best plan. This management group will prove to be better than Benning. How much better...let's see.
  6. Not all Canadian rates are higher than US. For example California and New York combined federal and state taxes are higher than Alberta combined provincial and federal rate. Many other states tax rates are similar to Canadian provinces on a combined state and federal basis. Look it up.
  7. Wrong. US citizens are taxed on their worldwide income wherever it is earned. They get credit for taxes paid to foreign jurisdictions like Canada and others with which there are tax treaties. But they file in the US and pay taxes in the US regardless of where they earn.
  8. Except for the direct quote from Schenn saying how hard this has been on him and his family waiting to get shipped out while his wife is expecting.
  9. #freelukeschenn Trade him or re-sign him but c'mon this is not cool. The guy has been a warrior a great teammate and Hughes is very appreciative. Management is holding him out and dragging this out while his wife is pregnant. Does not look good on them.
  10. Having watched OEL a number of times live, and following him around the rink I have drawn a number of conclusions. You can see his talent. He is smooth and experienced and often makes smart plays and doesn't panic. The issue with him is he is slowing down and sometimes now is getting beat wide to the outside when he pivots and a faster opponent goes around him. Because of this he is certainly not capable of playing as a number 1 and maybe not even a number 3. That makes him a number 5 playing on the 3rd pairing - so as to avoid playing the opponents top lines and losing foot battles. That's where the problem lies. You can't pay 7.3M to a 3rd pairing D and if you play him further up the lineup he will get beat more often than you want.
  11. If they are going to trade Schenn it should be for a 2nd and they should tell him they won't sell him for less than that. Also they should tell him that after the season to come back and we will give you a 2 yr deal at 1M per. If they sell him for crap he is going to say screw you guys for selling me for a low price when my wife was pregnant - I ain't coming back. And his teammates are going to say this management is a bunch of losers.
  12. We will see I guess. Again, don't trade Schenn unless the return is a 2nd. Trading him for a 3rd is a negative given who he is, how well liked he is, how pregnant his wife is, what a leader and good guy and solid player he is.
  13. Nux acquired Nate Schmidt from Vegas for a 3rd then traded him to Wpg for a 3rd. Return for Schenn is most likely a 3rd which will be very disappointing as his wife is pregnant and due on trade deadline day and Schenn is a leader in the room and well liked and a decent player. Get a 2nd or don't trade him please.
  14. I expect to see an OEL buyout this summer followed by a Myers trade. This trade deadline may produce less than people hope. Personally unless we get a 2nd for Schenn why trade him? Guys wife is due on deadline day. He's a good player and teammates like him. Boeser trade may be impossible unless we retain significant money which then becomes stupid. Summary: They probably trade Schenn at the deadline for a 3rd and nothing more. Boo. No other trades are likely to happen. They buyout OEL June 15 and trade Myers after his 5M bonus is paid this summer. Then we slowly start to climb back. I expect Petey signs an extension in the summer which is great news. Am I confident in this management group? More than Benning but less than Gillis.
