nitronuts
IT'S NOT OVER YET?!! Snow could be on the way for parts of Metro Vancouver, southwestern B.C. Vancouver Sun February 24, 2009 10:02 AM METRO VANCOUVER - Higher elevations of Metro Vancouver could see snow Wednesday evening and Squamish and the eastern Fraser Valley are expected to be sprinkled with the white stuff, according to GlobalBC meterorologist Mark Madryga. "Tomorrow night freezing levels will come down and the higher suburbs could see some accumulations," said Madryga this morning. "It probably won't snow in the city but it's still a ways away," he cautioned. Madryga was more certain about places like Squamish, Hope, and Chilliwack receiving snow. According to Environment Canada Chilliwack can expect rain changing to snow late Wednesday with accumulations of four centimetres. Madryga said there's a slight chance the area could see up to ten centimetres. To the north of Vancouver Environment Canada says Squamish can expect five to 10 centimetres of snow on Wednesday. Temperatures are expected to hover just above freezing meaning snow may be mixed with rain at times. High winds for Howe Sound are also expected. Whistler can expect periods of snow starting tonight, according to Environment Canada. Scattered showers or flurries are expected across the region Thursday with a clearing trend for the weekend. © Copyright © The Vancouver Sun http://www.vancouversun.com/Technology/Sno...3971/story.html

Chris19
Snowfall warning for East Fraser Valley (including Chilliwack), Whistler, East Vancouver Island, Fraser Canyon. 5 to 10 cm of snow is expected this afternoon through tonight with up to 15 cm in the Whistler area today. This is a warning that significant snowfall is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements. A low pressure system has developed over the British Columbia south coast. In addition cold air from an Arctic ridge of high pressure over the interior will reach the south coast late this afternoon.
