A Game Of Thrones: To the point of the TV show, no spoilers beyond that

Done episode 5. Still not sure why this show is apparently the best on TV and I feel the gore and porn was greatly exaggerated but I support Ayra. The future of the show. I also hope Drogo dies because he is C blocking me in real life.

I am stunned. GoT is the best show on TV because Breaking Bad has finished, and nothing else compares to those two behemoths.

How is Jason Momoa cockerel-blocking you irl?

Strains eyes more though.

I've never been bothered by it.

I'd rather read off an iPad but I can't take one of those to work.

Drogo tele-C block most guys so don't worry.

Finish season 1 and you should start to understand why it is the best show on TV... and then get to the end of season 3....

If I was forced to start reading only through E-Books, I'd never be able to read through any book ever again. I need an actual book in my hands. Plus having a personal library is awesome.

edit: Although I still need to buy the Song of Ice and Fire Books. Kinda in the awkward position where I don't want to read it for reasons of spoiling the show, lol.

I recently finished all 5 books, and let me tell you, the TV show is spoiling the books for me, not the other way around.

is this thread book spoiler friendly?

anyway, i had to read a book last week and i was too sick to get up and get it, so i just bought it on my iPad, man that felt like murder on my eyes. i can read website articles no problem, but after an hour or so it was really painful

is that a sign that i need glasses, or is it just a sign that iPads are not meant for reading books?

I'm 36. I'm old school. I love tech but I would want to read an actual book, especially when you are looking at up to 1 million words.

I find that after reading the books, the show feels flat and rushed in comparison. It's a testament to how well written the books are

Thoughts on books 4 & 5?

I consider Book 4 to be the most boring one, still good but just not a page turner like the others. Too much Greyjoys and Martells. The Cercei chapters are hilarious though.

Book 5 is the best one (Book 3 would be my 2nd choice). And unlike the other books and even the TV shows, it leaves us with cliffhangers like cliffhangers have never been hung before.

Thoughts on books 4 & 5?

both great. Slower paced though, after book 3. Lots of people were dissapointed because of the influx of new characters... to be honest I felt the same way at first. Its not that the new POVs are bad, its that you want to see more of the older characters. But once you warm up to them, they are as good as any of the books... IMO better than book 1 and 2 for sure. Some of the most poignant moments in the series are in book 4. Book 4 is definitely about the journey more than the destination.

Book 5 is awesome too. Once again, people tend to rip on it cuz they don't like all the new characters introduced in essos. But I liked them, and loved the book.

I said one of, along with Book Loras (not show Loras), Maester Aemon, Hot Pie and Aeron Damphair. She is someone I can sympathise with, an innocent amongst a world of cruelty. She deserves screen time. And a rich husband.

Book Loras doesn't have much book time. The only thing I remember him doing is ***spoiler*** pleading with Cercei for you know what.

Man these are odd characters you are into.

Don't get me wrong, I like Ned, I like Jon, and Tyrion, but main characters like Robert, Cersei, Robb, Bran, Jaime, Danaerys? I couldn't care less about any of them truth be told.

I like to get into the mindsets of the minor characters as they tend to see the story from another angle. If you read the books as Penny you'll see how little she knows of the world. I enjoy that far more than romps between siblings, sitting around waiting for people to love Dany etc.

Arya and Sansa I care little about in the books too, but on screen Arya is dynamite, and Sansa is hubba-hubba

The only problem I found was with pdf versions of textbooks. Practically unreadable

you need to get the Kindle DX, it handels PDF's no problem

My fav minor character is probably Ser Barristan. I look forward to more POV from him in the next book.

The other POV I dig very much is Cercei... I guess I like extreme characters.

It depends, reading books on an iPad has never botherd me but my brother can't comfortably. Some people just can't without discomfort or whatever. It may be that you need glasses, it never hurts to get checked though.
