-Vintage Canuck- Posted December 23, 2022 Share Posted December 23, 2022 Rainfall warning for Metro Vancouver: Rainfall warning in effect for: Metro Vancouver - central including the City of Vancouver Burnaby and New Westminster Metro Vancouver - North Shore including West Vancouver and North Vancouver Metro Vancouver - northeast including Coquitlam and Maple Ridge Metro Vancouver - southeast including Surrey and Langley Metro Vancouver - southwest including Richmond and Delta Rainfall, combined with melting snow, is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall. Time span: Tomorrow (Christmas Eve). Location: Metro Vancouver. Rainfall accumulations: 25 to 50 mm, except 60 to 90 mm for North Vancouver and northern sections of Coquitlam and Maple Ridge. Threats: Localized flooding due to water pooling and ice-clogged drainage. Slippery surfaces before the ice and snow melt completely. Ice falling from infrastructure may give rise to injuries and damages. Remarks: A Pacific system will bring heavy rain and a warmer airmass to the B.C. south coast tomorrow. Precipitation phase will switch from freezing rain and ice pellets to rain sometime between late afternoon and tonight. Periods of rain will intensify tomorrow morning. Heavy rain will taper off to a few showers tomorrow late afternoon or early evening. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
