To Fla:

Roberto Luongo

Keith Ballard

Rights to MA Gragnani

Jordan Schroeder

To Van:

Erik Gudbranson

Shawn Mathias

Vancouver gets a big, tough stay at home defenseman, who would be the perfect and ideal d partner with Edler. We also get a big 3rd line center in Shawn Mathias.

Florida has expressed interest in Roberto Luongo. Luongo gives them a Legit #1 goaltender to help them in the playoffs. They gain Ballard who if he can return to his old form is the steal of this trade, but he also adds depth to their D. Florida also gains a solid offensive defensemen in Gragnani. They also gain a solid prospect in Jordan Schroeder.

Luongo +MA Gragnani for Gudbranson

Ballard+Schroeder for Mathias

To Dal:

Rights to Mason Raymond

Van 2012 1st Round pick

To Van:

Steve Ott

Vancouver gains Their tough, physical 3rd line player capable of moving up and down the lineup.

Dallas gets a speedy winger who could play anywhere in the top 9, and is responsible defensively. They also gain the 26th overall pick.

To Stl:

Van 2013 2nd round pick

To Van:

Rights to Chris Stewart

Vancouver gains a big, physical winger with skill. He hasn't fit into St. Louis at all, and has found himself often in the press box or on the 4th line.

St Louis gets rid of a player that wasn't working for them. They gain a 2nd round draft pick.

This still doesn't address our need for a playmaking type winger, and Florida won't trade Gudbranson.

I don't think we should give up a 1st and Raymond for Ott, plus Hansen is fine on the 3rd.

since we wouldn't Gudbranson that defense would look sorta weak, even with him it lacks depth and isn't really an improvement from the group we had last year.

While I understand we'd have to sweeten the deal to make Florida want to trade Gudbranson (and I'd love to have him) we still give up a little too much for my liking. Having said that, a 1st plus Raymond for Ott and a 2nd and a 3rd for the rights to Stewart is way more of an overpayment than the first deal.
