Chimon
Eh, I'm against the buy out idea and the drop to 64M in one swoop. Would rather see the cap gradually lowered over 2-3 seasons instead after next season. eg. 71, 68,
Caboose
It's a discussion for next season but teams have already put plans in place for the existing salary cap. A decision for next season should be made by the 40 game mark of the season so teams can plan in advance.
SOB for MVP
Im open to the idea, and as most people are in the same boat, I would say that would be something for next season (2015). I would be fine for cap if we did it this year, but I know many teams would be hooped
Otis
Lol that's gotta be a first for this league
canucklax
I'd assume players pay would be about the same. Getzlaf got 8.5 long term with a 64 M salary cap, hell Travis Zajac got 5.75. This isn't far off from what they would've had in the old 70.2 world.

F.Underwood
I wished we would have given Ari's method a full try, and then people wouldn't complain about a shallow FA pool..

SOB for MVP
People should take the NFL mentality regarding free agency - not trying to build your team through free agency, but building it via trades and the draft. Free agency should be seen as adding complimentary pieces. I know this isnt an NFL sim league, but the notion could be applied to the NHL as well. AriGold
My initial plan to make a big free agency was intended to bring people back into the game are already so so on it. Big free agency adds some fuel into getting top notch players, New lineups and a chance to change the team. I find alot of GM's are lacking the general motivation and are here just as statues currently. Hopefully the lack of free agency sparks some good trade talk. Dealing with teams and players isn't an easy thing, I can feel SOB's pain so back off from the whole free agency thing and make due with what you have. Test your other skills as a GM and let it be. *VaNcOuVeRCaNuCkS*
For this season the cap is set on the first page I am all for a reduction in cap over the next few seasons kinda like what Chimon said 71M this season, 68 the season after and 64 the season after that

canucklax
My exact thoughts. Seems like most of the GMs complaining about a weak FA pool have already resigned their own players, contributing little to FA themselves. And why is the cap going down? Is the goal to balence teams by lowering the cap?
BananaMash
Well they may also be re-signing players because their are no alternatives
