DeNiro Posted August 11, 2013 Share Posted August 11, 2013 It prevents teams like Boston and LA from pushing the smaller Canucks around and ultimately would have lead to a stanley cup win by the Canucks. Oh I thought you were done? Questioning my hockey IQ when you think that pushing players after the play equals winning games. The Canucks had no powerplay production, a depleted D core, no healthy second, and no shutdown/faceoff specialist left. Pretty much everything that made them successful during the season. Oh and they were facing a Vezina goaltender who absolutely caught fire. Anyone who knows anything about hockey knows these were the reasons for their collapse. Not a few scrums after the whistle. During the first two games, the Bruins did NOTHING to physically manhandle the Canucks but when Rome threw the hit it "woke the bear" If they had even a little pushback and a guy who would actually stand up to 5'9 Brad Marchand, the Bruins aren't controlling the game like they did after the first 2 games.. You obviously don't understand or haven't watched the series over to find the real reason the Canucks lost it... they were intimidated and they lost because of it. Did the Canucks have some injuries? Sure, but they were still a good enough team to beat Boston, hence why they actually brought it to 7.... In the games Boston won, they were MANHANDLING the Canucks.. In the games the Canucks won, they found a few lucky goals and got out of it with most of their limbs in tact... The Canucks were dominated that series because of physicality. The Canucks had a few injuries? Do I really need to list all of them again? You know the biggest thing that changed after game 2? It wasn't the hit on Horton, it was the injury to Hamhuis. That guy is the closest thing to a Norris caliber D-man we have, and without him we had nothing to shutdown the Bruins top players. Not to mention with him and Rome gone our entire D pairings were messed up and they had to try and adjust on the fly. Which is the reason we got lit up in game 3, and didn't do much better in game 4. Once the team had no confidence in it's D and goatending, the offense had to play it safe and hang back on every play, which is the exact opposite of what made them successful all season. I think any person on here who knows hockey knows this is the reason we lost. Not because a bunch of grown man were intimidated by a 5'9" Marchand.
