dangler696969
Lets face it. Either next year or the following year Bo Horvat will make the team as a center. More likely then not he will start at the 3C position. Brendan Gaunce has proven to be inconsistent and highly overrated by Canucks fans. He probably won't even play at the World Juniors. We could easily get another solid young player or a good veteran player for him. What do you guys think about trading Gaunce? Horvat is going to be much better than him. Sorry Gaunce fans just being real yo.
Go Faulk Yourself
Anything can happen. Horvat could be a bust, you never know, it's unlikely but still possible. We shouldn't trade Gaunce without knowing how Horvat will progress, and what Gaunce might be, especially with a prospect pool that's still not all that good. Your standpoint seems a little bias, that you have zero faith in Gaunce yet you haven't seen him play one game at the NHL level, people can excel and regress at certain stages of play. Peaches
Why can't we keep both? Horvat Gaunce Schroeder Lain Pretty good future C depth.
DownUndaCanuck
Right now, we have 4 good center prospects in our pool. Horvat, Schroeder, Lain and Gaunce. Shinkaruk can also play center so make it 5. The reality is, the Canucks don't have any decent bottom-6 centers locked up for a long time, but more importantly - Henrik Sedin and Kesler are getting old and are going to need replacing. Cup winning teams are built around a solid core of great top-2, two-way centers (Toews/Sharp, Kopitar/Richards, Krejci/Bergeron, Crosby/Malkin etc.). IMO depth at center is the single most important part of a team in the playoffs due to matchups. We NEED depth down the middle, because once the twins and Kesler are too old to contribute in our top-6, these young guys can take their spots. Gaunce is a solid middle-6 forward, probably won't end up a first liner but we don't need to ask that off him when we've got a guy like Horvat now who can step into that role. Schroeder is most likely a top-9 center, and Lain will probably never cut the top-6 so that works out perfectly. If everything goes to plan our top-4 centers are set and locked for the foreseable future, with guys like Shinkaruk, Jensen and Kassian filling out the roster holes that will be left once Higgins/Burrows retire. You trade away Schroeder or Gaunce now and rely on Horvat, and you'll be in trouble. We don't have as much quantity as people think, and if Horvat doesn't pan out to be a productive center then we're in even bigger trouble.
22sedins33
Until they're both developed I wouldn't jump to any conclusions. Also, if we had two Keslers would you be wanted to give one away? How about two Sedins? Oh wait...
shinkaruk98
Gaunce hasn't played a single game in the NHL and he's already a bust? What makes you think Gaunce wont make team Canada? did you know the a lot of the players at the camp will be playing in the NHL which means more roster spots on team Canada. <---- dangler696969 Logic. Find it hard to believe anything you say with that name. Oh and on another not, how has Gaunce proven to be inconsistent? back to back point per game seasons while putting his team on his back and riding the captaincy. Edlerberry
Didn't we just regret trading away a young center? Maybe we should stick with what we have. Lucky us, we have young center depth.

kanucks25
Just because Horvat plays the same position, doesn't mean Gaunce is now expendable. Gaunce is projected to be more a of checking third-line center whereas Horvat will (hopefully) be a 2nd line all-around guy. Gaunce can start off as a 4th line center and Horvat as the 3rd if they both come up at the same time. By the time Horvat is ready to jump into the top-6, Henrik will probably be leaving so there will be room. Too many good centers is an excellent problem to have. There's also a chance one of them could bust, so trading one away this early isn't very wise.
theshield
Inconsistent and overrated by Canuck fans = trade for solid young player or good veteran player? lol makes sense...But i don't want to trade Gaunce, he built like a truck at 6'3" 215 lbs, bigger than Dustin Brown but has potential to play like him
Fozzy
Jesus! The guy hasn't played a game for the Canucks yet and you're calling him a bust! Sometimes I wonder about some fans.
