Worst Restaurant Delivery Experience Ever

This story has blown up and created a major crap storm for the business. They have been getting threats, and have getting harassed all over social media with some unfounded claims. The police even contacted Jeff L.

Either way, tha sanwich looks disgusting.

Here is the post from the Pizza Place:

We value our reputation for honesty and integrity and strive at all times to deliver high quality service to our customers.

On Friday evening, one of our customers claimed we had shortchanged him $30.00, within five minutes of the sale transaction.

We took the customer’s claim seriously, as any decent business would. We immediately checked our computer sales record. This allowed us to compare our total cash sales for the day to the cash in our till. There was a perfect match.

There is an old saying that “The customer is always right.” In this case, the customer was wrong. He was not short-changed.

With the benefit of hindsight, however, we probably should simply have paid the customer off and absorbed the $30 dollar loss. Perhaps letting the customer be “right” when he is “wrong” is simply one of the costs of accepting cash payments.

Following the incident, somebody posted defamatory lies about us on the Internet. These lies provoked many misinformed, critical comments. Some comments were hate-filled and ugly. Our staff have received threatening phone calls. We think most Canadians will agree that nobody should be subjected to this kind of cyber-bullying.

We would like to thank our loyal customers for their heartwarming emails. We invite others who do not know us yet to remember there are two sides to every story. Visit us, try our excellent food, our superb service, and judge for yourselves.

So who is correct in all this? It also brings up an interesting point on how easy it would be to destroy a business over social media, even if they've done nothing wrong. Even though it has been pointed out they are charging the wrong tax rate which could be whole different problem.

The way the restaurant worded this I would be inclined to believe the poor guy who went there in the first place, I mean who goes through the trouble to write a story about them and even calling the police over $30 if they were not wronged?

I've had one especially bad experience at a restaurant downtown several years ago. It was on the pricier side and, because of our large group, they auto charged an 18% gratuity.

Our server was rude from the moment we sat down. Instead of gently setting our food down in front of us, he kinda just plopped it down. Right as I was about to put my fork into my food, he just suddenly took it away (no "sorry", no explanation) and gave it to another person in our group (who apparently had ordered the same dish). He made some rude remarks throughout the night as well. Sadly, I don't remember what they were anymore.

We still paid the 18% gratuity. In hindsight, we should've complained.

So do they not understand that the whole reason for the scam is the guy working the til pockets the $30? That's why the cash matched up...

Not to mention that the counter guy's girlfriend is a manager at the place and instead of using a name, it is signed simply as "Manager". Also, the "cost of accepting cash payments" remark is ridiculous. Anybody with half a brain will see right through this bad attempt at PR control.

I don't get tips in my line of work, why should anyone? You don't like your pay, negotiate it or move on. Tips are the most ridiculous thing ever. Here is some extra money so you don't spit in my food next time.

The sob story of losing money is classic as well. I don't tip. Teachers and Doctors should get tips. Not a waiter or waitress.

You contradict yourself by stating "Tips are the most ridiculous thing ever" but then you say that Teachers and Doctors should get tips but not waiter/waitress.

Why should Teachers and Doctors get tips? Doctors are very well payed as it is. One of the reasons Health Care is such mess and failure is because of Doctors high salaries, along with poor service and lack of care they have for patients. Some (not all) care more about how many surgeries they perform or patients they see then the actual health and well being of Patients. Sad but truth. Alot of Doctors won't travel to certain hospitals because it's too far for them. Cry me river. By your logic, we should also tip celebrities, professional sports athletes, politicians, company executives, etc. Get real. One of most ridiculous things i've ever read.

I have been on public transit once in my life, so my comment may not be the best. However, the bus drivers I have met all commented that they get spit on quite regularly by passengers. Other than a porn star, I don't know any other job where that is considered a regular occurance. If I were a bus driver, I would be quite unpleasant to be around as well.

While transit drivers are treated poorly and not respected that certainly doesn't give them right to be jerks to passengers and acting so by pulling away from bus stop early or if someone running yelling to stop or when you ask for transfer, directions or ask if they can let you off at certain area/bus stop and they drive right by it. While i'm at it, some of them are dangerous in their driving cutting motorists off. They're are regarded as being very safe drivers but alot times they sure they don't like it.

I think its why the statistics shows poor for BC, its not that residents are poor or cheap but predominately Asian and European community is not used to the concept of tipping.

Tipping is mainly a North American invention, or specifically American invention. You go to Asia, Africa, Europe or even South America and you will see that tipping is only customary in North America. The purpose of tipping is to complement on a great service so I don't know why all of a sudden is expected and mandatory. If that is part of the salary, then it should be open to taxation. I would never tip for a garbage service, in fact I would be complaining to the owner or manager.

Doctors shouldnt get tips, that i agree with but the rest of your post is non sense. Doctors save lives and extend the lives of people. They deserve every cent of that salary. So you want doctors to have lower salary even though they spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on 8 years of schooling and millions of hours of studying? I like to see a waitress do an open heart surgery.

I'd probably talk to the manager or the owner and made a scene. The 18% gratuity should not be paid in this situation.

i am a waiter and let me tell you, being a waiter is actually a great thing. we have smart people and we have dumb people. just like any career. I for 1 am a great person, have great friends, and i take care of every one that is in my workplace and i am glad to do it, and for that i have people that love me around me. also, restaurant managers are one of the best bosses you can have. sometimes they can be really strict, but they will take care of you no matter what, and they will buy you what ever it is that you need. as long as your not a selfish ****head. Also, we all go to great schools , and will have lots of money when we graduate and a have family that we all love and take care off

Do you want to change that? lol Just 1 million hours equals 114 years.

Where did I state anything about Doctors having lower salary? I said no such thing. Reading is fundamental.

Didn't realise cheap service included bitching and moaning to the "customer's" Boss that he did not tip enough and that he wants a bigger tip, or whatever...oh yeah......

The worker shouldn't have said anything but you gave him a crappy tip that's what happens. It's very common for workers to bitch about bad tips. I called a sushi place once. Asked a simple question about the fish. The server was 'too busy' to answer my question. Well I lived across the street so I was there in like 2 minutes to pay. The place was empty and server on what looked like a personal call. I still tipped generously and never made a peep. But it was the last time I ever went there.

Maybe you should take your own advice. When you say that "One of the reasons Health Care is such mess and failure is because of Doctors high salaries" you imply that doctors should probably be getting a lower salary so Health Care wouldn't be a mess. "Reading is fundamental" :picard:

Tips should never be mandatory especially if its a crappy service. Its total BS that they bitch about it too, like it their god damn given right to receive huge tips. I only give good tips to those who are good at their service.
