Ghostsof1915
I love how the Sedins state a very matter of factly, they don't import players. They prefer to grow their own. That is the pattern for successful teams, leagues, and sports nations. Something that EPL could learn, if they want England to compete in the World Cup. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlaim, Raheem Sterling, Jack Wilshere, ad Luke Shaw are going to great players in the premiership.

Mimerez
Forsberg, Sedins, Naslund, Hedman... Woah, not bad for a city with 30 thousand inhabitants.

If Wilshere can be consistent and Welbeck or Sturridge step their game up, maybe

johngould21
300 000 no, 30 000. I've seen other stories where, nearly 30 players from this small city have played in the NHL. Imagine a city about half the size of Kamloops turning out that many players in the NHL.

Chalky
no You could actually google the city and check for yourself. Ornskoldsvik is 30K.

Well.....We do have Trail, BC. Where an astounding 19 players have come from. Today's population is 7237. That's a 4x better ratio than Örnsköldsvik. http://www.quanthockey.com/nhl/city/nhl-players-career-stats.php?city_id=5064 BC has produced 353 NHL players to date. http://www.hockey-reference.com/friv/birthplaces.cgi?country=CA&province=BC&state= Sweden, 250. http://www.hockey-reference.com/friv/birthplaces.cgi?country=SE&province&state And I would content that BC has also produced more top tier stars overall. Swedish players didn't really start coming over to play here until the 80's so we can't really go by how many players in history have played. Borje Salming on the Leafs was the only real major impact player in the 70's that i remember. Around the time when Thomas Gradin was drafted seems like when they slowly started seeing NHL as a destination.
Westcoasting
Just realized the B.C list doesn't have Brind'amour who was born in Ontario but spent all his childhood in Campbell River playing hockey.
