Horvat's taste in rap just doesn't really mesh with mine for the most part.

1. Yung Lean - Tokyo: 6.5/10

- Won't lie, I love the production. The kid himself looks like the biggest idiot imaginable.
- He's saying nothing but garbage: "i'm war ho, I'm warhol, I'm wario when I'm in Mario Kart" - only one of these statements is remotely believable. guess which one.
- did I mention that I love the production?
meaningless, empty track, but sounds good.

2. Pouya - Get Buck: 2/10

technically proficient. completely lacks soul, not a single genuine lyric or story being told, no unique talent on display (his technical proficiency just sounds like a bone thugs copy, as everyone has already said in the comments)

some of the worst lyrics i've read in a hip hop song, and yet he concludes by calling himself lyrical, and by saying he 'hates being copied' (while using recycled metaphors throughout the entire song). i don't think he understands what a lyrical MC is, and he certainly isn't being copied, and he most certainly has copied others.

but, like i said, technically proficient

3. Kali Uchis - Never Be Yours: 7/10

great beat/production. hardly much of a rap song, she's basically just singing. still a cool though.

4. Fat Nick - How I Look: 4/10

Didn't annoy me like Pouya did, but the production is weak, the hook is weak. Nothing I would ever want to hear again

5. Pouya - Everything Good. 3.5/10

Rapping about Florida over a beat from LBC, using the midwest Bone Thugs flow. does this kid have his own identity? sounds like he hasn't even gone through puberty yet.

don't like this stuff at all. no heart, no authenticity.

6. Yung Lean - Tokyo Drift: 4/10

Weak lyrics, pretty cool production. the guy who starts rapping at like 2:30 might be the worst rapper i've ever heard lmao

kinda cool to hear japanese rap, though.

7. Opiuo - Life (KOAN remix) -/10.

not rap.

8. Xavier Wulf - Hear Yee: 2/10

Just don't like it. Trap is my least favourite style of hip hop, and this just doesn't do anything with it to interest me at all, sorry

9. Milo - Post Hoc: 8.5/10

Great production, good lyrics.
Nothing particularly original though, sounds like something a Clouddead affiliate would do.
Not surprised to read Milo is friends with Busdriver.

10. Denzel Curry - Gankin: 1/10.

Terrible production, godawful lyrics. Utterly generic in every way. Sorry dude, just not my thing

11. Yung Lean - Thaiboy Digital: 5/10

Decent production again. Horrible lyrics, once again. What's the deal with that other dude singing? lmao. either way, it's oddly listenable.

Overall, I'd give this about a 4/10, with some serious, serious low points.

Yeah i feel you Glassjaw...

idk i like to feel my music probably cause im stoned

This is my first mixtape exchange so maybe i shouldnt, but I feel bad, you got destroyed.

I do agree with everyone regarding the format, maybe an /10 score for each individual track and a /100 for the whole tape

Kyoto - Yung Lean   5.5/10

- I liked the lightness of it, but this rapper himself is pretty awful. I struggle to grab on to a word he says, and when I do, it feels like he's saying nothing.

- I spaced out while listening to it, so I don't know whether that's a plus or a negative on a hip hop track like that. Though part of the reason, and a definite knock against it, is again how lacking in any presence this Yung Lean guy is.

Get Buck - Pouya  3/10

- Says a lot without saying anything at all.

- I took nothing away from this track, but while a good rapper should be cocky, if they're going to be, they really have to back it up in some way. Any way. He didn't.

Never be Yours - Kali Uchis   8.5/10

- Love this song. It's going to end up on my own playlist for later listening.

- Dunno if it's necessarily hip hop, don't care.

How I Look - Fat Nick   3/10

- Sounds like filler on a try hard main stream album. There's nothing to this song.

Everything Good - Pouya Ft. SDotBraddy   2.5/10

- Worse than his other song up there.

- When I saw this guys name come up I was interested to see if he could up his game in any way, but that was bad. Repetitive, lazy crap.

Tokyo Drift - Yung Lean Ft. Bladee, MonyHorse, PETZ, Junkman   4/10

- I'm going to steal Hatedkid's comment, I couldn't distinguish it from the the first song, so I'm not going to rate it too high, even if it should maybe be reviewed independently of that first track. I don't think it serves the mixtape well for such a similar thing to show up again

Life - Opion/Koan Sound   4/10

- Sorry to again reference a previous reviewer first rather than the song itself, but I think Glassjaw is maybe out of place in saying this doesn't qualify. It isn't rap perhaps, but I do think it is hip hop, and certainly fits in somewhere in this spectrum. Maybe I'm just covering my own ass for future sake for saying that, because I've included a song with no words, but I think fair's fair, lol.

- That said, I do not like the song. It's pretty dull for a song that tries to be different.

Hear Yee - Xavier Wulf  2 /10

- I don't get the youtube ratings on the song. Thought it was maybe the worst entry on the whole thing. Especially if you're the host that's talking about flow and togetherness of the mixtape that destroys a lot of it.

post hoc ergo propter hoc - Milo   8.5/10

- Sounds like some average dude talking at times, rather than someone working on a melody. But the song worked. I found myself hanging on whatever he was saying.

- Really, if someone else rapped this song, maybe filled out the production, I could see it exploding.

Gankin - Danzel Curry Ft JK the Reaper   1.5/10

- I turned it off part way through. I maybe get the other entry choices, but this one I don't.

Diamonds - Yung Lean Ft Thaiboy Digital   5/10

- Better than the second, but not the first. And again, too damn similar.

 Overall     3.5/10

I could appreciate how it took me a little out of my comfort zone by providing me with a type of music I don't always listen to, but it doesn't mean I enjoyed it. I think a lot of the music was outright bad. Most of it was too repetitive.

Again sorry for the saltiness. Blame the Jays.

How many people are review it/how many people are left to review it.

(and when we're done horvat's lets do mine ::D)

There are 10 participants. 5 have reviewed. One said that you have their thoughts down verbatim (You should still review, Jazz). One is the mixtape creator themselves. So that leaves 3.

I don't think we can wait for every single person to  review every mixtape before we move on, but I don't know what that cut-off should be all the same. They could always catch up and review after as well, I suppose.

Yeah, don't see why they couldn't catch up if they fall behind

It goes without saying that not everybody will be able to or even want to post a review every night. I don't see why we should delay, especially with the weekend coming up, people will have plenty a chance to post their review.

What I'm trying to say is this will take forever if we keep waiting for everybody to post since we all have different schedules and time zones. If 1 or 2 people haven't posted, it shouldn't hold up everybody else.

Not gonna lie, I just didn't feel like reviewing this at the time. That being said, still not much of a fan and I still share many of hk's sentiments. And I'm assuming I was supposed to be high when listening to this, which I wasn't.

Kyoto - Yung Lean   5/20

- Would like an instrumental. Video and lyrics sucked.

Get Buck - Pouya  4/10

- I like the flow, but like HK said, nothing special. Content's not really my thing either.

Never be Yours - Kali Uchis   1/10

-No.

How I Look - Fat Nick   2/10

-No, again. At least the beat is decent.

Everything Good - Pouya Ft. SDotBraddy   4/10

- I like the 90s vibe. But it's just another rap song.

Tokyo Drift - Yung Lean Ft. Bladee, MonyHorse, PETZ, Junkman   4/10

- Not gonna lie, that's one of the dopest beats I've heard. But boing lyrics bro.

Life - Opion/Koan Sound   10/10

- "Not really rap but I like the song" - hatedkid666

- I gave it 10 for the beat alone.

Hear Yee - Xavier Wulf  1 /10

Gankin - Danzel Curry Ft JK the Reaper   2/10

- It's like it tried to be cool, but failed.

Diamonds - Yung Lean Ft Thaiboy Digital   7/20

- so boring. But the bass is good. so I gave it 7 for that.

Variety  4/30

- Not much variety.
