We have a better chance of signing Stamkos than Edmonton trading McDavid to a divisional rival. If you're "curious" about hypotheticals like this, you must not watch a lot of NHL hockey in general. For a hypothetical question like this, Vancouver needs to add more pieces. Those of you saying this trade wouldn't happen and are avoiding the question, that's not the point. It's hypothetical. McDavid is going to be a pain in the a$$ for us for a long time, but atleast he is on a canadian team. When we are eliminated i would be going for any canadian team to win (except the leafs). Theres Ovechkin, Crosby, Stamkos, Towes, and Kane. Then there's McDavid, the Oilers hit big here, real big. I would actually be dissappointed if they dont win a cup with him. Hypothetically the value of McDavid, is equivalent to the entire Canucks and Jets organizations. So if those two teams would split Mcdavid into two entities, that would equate to trading their entire teams, for half a McDavid. Seems about right in trade value. Hypothetically speaking of course... To get Edmonton to even consider trading McDavid, you would have to throw in the entire flames roster as well. Even then Edmonton would still hang up the phone.
