As such, some salary needs to be cut and fast. Thanks to LTIR, the team is okay today, but that could change soon. James Neal, Erik Johnson, Braydon Coburn and Alex Galchenyuk each have contracts that would satisfy this need, and Montreal has an additional 2018 2nd round pick that could be dangled as incentive. Franson just signed a last minute contract, and Desjardins hasn't yet, so they will start in the minors, to allow to test some of the youth (and to see what roles both groups actually land in the end).
