I think there's less reason for jazz to updoot posts voting for him if he's town than if he's mafia. The reverse psychology game is strong.

Not a townie role. My understanding is the hitman is a role that the mafia have to protect the scum that submits the MK from being tracked or the victim watched. 

 

So scum A submits kill generally leads to scum A visited townie B and if they show up dead it’s pretty obvious they are mafia. 

 

But a hitman always is the result regardless of who submits the kill - example scum A submits kill on townie B but scum C is hitman the watcher tracker sees scum C not A.
