You say it would be selfish of Edler to sign somewhere else without trade clauses.  Why then, would it not be selfish of the Canucks to ask him to sign for below market value, or replace him with someone else and include a NTC?

If is has gone that far, then I think there is a good chance it gets done.

 

We will have to overpay in term a little, that is much less of a big deal.  We would have to overpay in term for a UFA replacement anyways.

 

Edler is the right age to take a decreasing role as Hughes and Juolevi (hopefully) start being ready for more minutes.

 

5-6 million per year for 3-4 years probably gets it done.

Edler smartened up. Take the three year and get more cash and take a risk of moving 1.5 hours away.  Not a major issue and he may not even have to move. He’ll sign.

Edler hasn't likely done anything but enjoying time with his family and off season training.

 

Edler's agent's just been negotiating this whole time and media has been trolling Canuck fans hard.
