The Vancouver Canucks have re-signed the following pending free agents:

Denis Gurianov - 2 years, $3.000M per year

Matt Martin - 1 year, $1.250M

Mark Pysyk - 1 year, $1.600M

@Primal Optimist

This off season has really forced our hand to make way more moves than we are comfortable doing, and in so doing and in extremely large part due to the global pandemic and the cap issues it creates here in the CFL and all leagues....we are thankful therefore that We have such a great group of guys in the room and in the system.  We have tried to preach that hard work and toil in our minors will pay off for our draftees and young acquisitions, and the silver lining to this years turmoil is that we can now practice what we preach.

Call-ups:  the Vancouver Canucks are pleased to call up to the big ranks, to give them them the best possible foot forward to lock up a roster spot next camp:

Logan Brown,

Alex Formenton,

Jason Robertson

With some time before the buyout deadline, Vancouver is not yet finished our offseason build. James Neal is a nice looking option for a club with room, at an incredibly modest asking price.

Have small.png  Corey Perry on the block  @ 8.45M in his final year of his deal.

Exploring trade options for possibly forward buy-out candidates. Am open to adding an asset to swap contracts before a buyout. Player would have to be on a slightly inflated contract say making 1.5-2M over market value and have term of 3 or more years.

It is a very specific request but if you have a player you want to buyout - I may be able to give you an ok prospect before you buy a guy out. We are looking for a prime aged leader who can help the kids in the room. Someone that maybe in year 3 we can retain on and maybe get a mid range pick. Our retention slots are full for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 season so it wouldn't be an immediate flip. May not be a suitor but you never know :D Worth a shot. Offering young fringe nhlers - no picks are available in this type of deal. Could be a situation where you ride out Perry's 1 year then take on another buyout candidate for profit. Food for thought. :D

The Carolina Hurricanes have re-signed the following players:

Kevin Hayes - 6 years, $6.250M per year, NMC in 2020-21 and 2021-22, LNTC in 2022-23 to 2025-26 (12 team no trade list)

Ilya Mikheyev - 3 years, $3.200M per year

Carolina is extremely happy to be able to retain Hayes at a number that worked with our cap structure. He has fit in excellently as our 2C since arriving earlier in the year by trade. And he's had a fantastic playoffs. His 32 points in round 2 was a major reason why we were able to get by Boston. We expect to be a contender for at least the next 2 years, and he will be a big part of it.

We're also glad to work out something longer term with Mikheyev. He proved in a short sample that he was capable of providing solid secondary scoring. He wasn't able to produce in the playoffs, but that was likely due to not being at 100% after his wrist injury. We expect him to play an even more crucial role for Toronto next season, after they traded Kapanen (and potentially will trade another middle-6 forward as well).

We have a trade to announce...

To TBL: Jake Allen, Michael Matheson, Kaeden Korczak, Phillip Danault

To VAN: Ryan McDonagh, Teemu Kivehalme, Gavin Bayreuther

@Nail

Thanks to @Primal Optimist for quick and swift negotiations. We are sad to see a staple leader in McDonagh go, but we wish him nothing but the best in Vancouver.

Welcome to Micheal, Jake, Kaeden and potentially Phillip. We are really happy to add someone like Michael to the team as he is someone who can produce and play a physical style. We are also extremely happy to add Kaeden to our prospect pool and feel he has a higher ceiling then most. Jake we welcome but are looking to shop as our goalie situation is pretty set. Unfortunately for Jake he became a cap casualty on another team. We also hope to enter negotiations with Phillip, but will also accept a conditional pick for his rights

Barring any unforeseen circumstance - NJ will  be sitting at our draft table twiddling our thumbs for the remainder of the draft.

No remaining picks in 2020 and only our 1st in 2021. Willing to take a late pick for a guy like Dillon Heatherington (DAL) if interested. Have a few late guys I'd take a flyer on.
