Fred65
I don't believe you can judge Hoglander on stats. The eye ball test tells you so much more. The stats never show the battle along the boards and who comes away with the puck. It doesn't show how his edge control is off the charts ( much like Hughes and Rathbone) it doesn't show how quick he gets the shot away. There are so many skills that are not defined by stats and he scores well. Hoglander will be a top 6 player and the tale will be told when he has to sign a new contract LOL
Tank Swank
He's a 20 goal, 60 point guy and that is perfectly fine The hustle he brings to the table is also just outstanding Great player, excited to see how his career goes Edited May 12, 2021 by Tank Swank

That will especially be the case if they actually move to a PP with both Hughes and Rathbone, so there may be fewer minutes for forwards. History shows that about 25-33% of 2nd/3rd rounders become NHL regulars... so Hoglander is beating expectations already. If we can get a 40-60 point winger out of that pick we are doing well. He started on a healthy team as the 2RW so I don't really feel like he's been getting handed any minutes thanks to injuries. I'd argue playing on a Petey-less team makes it tougher for a rookie to shine in a top 6 role. He earned his spot on the 2nd line and has earned more PP time imo.

His balance and strength on his skates for his size is insane. High motor, compete level, skating, hockey iq is all there. High hopes for this kid. If Podz is just as good or better, we're in great shape.

Plus adding a top 10 pick this year we really should be a team to look out for in the future.
