I thought you watched the game ..... OEL did replace Hughes for a couple of the PPs.  And guess what, they didn't score either.  In fact, it didn't look very dangerous at all with OEL on the point.

I would change Chaisson with JT Miller as the net front presence with Brock on the left half wall as the other one-timer threat with Petey on the other side and Horvat as the bumper.

OEL needs to permanently be on PP1. He can pass AND shoot. That alone makes it so the penalty killers have to pay attention to him, leaving them less opportunity to just cheat to cover EP.

That was also before he coached the creativity out of them. The problem is how he coaches them to play does not fit with their strengths and does not allow for that offensive creativity they previously showed.

Miller to Hughes to EP. No shot or miss the net. Rinse and repeat.

And you think that's Green telling them not to shoot?  That's on the players.  If it was me, I would tell Pettersson to just shoot.  Even if they block it, maybe you can injure them for trying to block it, and the next time they'll think twice.  He's trying to be too perfect with his execution instead of just shooting.

So you want to take the player who has the 2nd most assists in the league on the PP the last 2 seasons, out of the first unit of the PP.  What changed?  I thought you wanted both of them on the PP.

It’s called changing things up when they aren’t working. Hughes had that many points on the pp because other players were scoring. Well they aren’t scoring now so time to try something else out. Mainly demoting Pettersson and boeser

He’s for real. Heavy shot. Super strong and still growing. Just a kid.
Really pumped on Podz.

btw who does he remind you of?

I can’t think of an obvious comparable.
hossa

radulov.

Like a thicker Greg Adams. 6'2"

1056 games 355 goals 388 assists

I think Podz is stronger than Greg too.

Hits way harder.

When the Canucks have scored on the PP, isn't it mostly to do with Hughes making the plays?

I would like the Canucks to run these 2 PP units.

Miller - Net Front

Horvat - Bumper

Brock - Left Wall

Hughes - Point

Pettersson - Right Wall

Pearson/Chiasson - Net Front

Podkozlin - Bumper

Garland - Left Wall

OEL - Point

Hoglander - Right wall

As usual, you miss some important context. They scored early in their power plays. So they didn’t have (or need) the full 2 min where they could pepper useless shots on goal to pad their supposedly important sog stat line. They simply did what effective power plays do, they capitalized.

2 of their power plays (and most of their pp time) was in the last 5 min of the game and they could have easily scored if not for Demko. So thanks to him.

The Canucks had 12 minutes of spread out pp time. So ya they generated a shot per minute (which is still actually pretty meh tbh) but did nothing with it yet again.

I haven’t watched a ton last year or this, but yes he is a great playmaker. But he is short and has a short reach, so I suggest move him down low on PP similar to a kuznetsove type position, with boeser on left side for one timer. OEL qb for his shot as well, bo or miller in front and garland or whoever else fill in the gap. Oel has long reach and can keep the luck in the grey zone better than hughes

I think Green gets in their head and makes them afraid to make a mistake.

Makes them grip their sticks too hard.

Try the bounce pass play on the PP for goodness sake.

The static nature of the PP is 100% coaching. Look at how they ran the PP a few years back. Suddenly those same players have zero ability to move around, use shooters on both sides, set up plays, or play with any urgency?

Thats on coaching not the players.

Hughes is actually pretty decent in keeping the puck in the zone on the PP.  It's usually JT Miller or Pettersson who are trying to force some passes which are getting intercepted and cleared.
