Popular Post OldFaithfulCap
Overview Game info TV: Sportsnet Radio: Sportsnet 650 Overview It's Hall of Fame night for the Canucks and fittingly they play Florida, the state where Canucks go when they want to leave or retire (Luongo..Bure..Ohlund..Jovo..Bertuzzi...Salo....mitchell). It's a great night to reflect on past accomplishments because no-one wants to re-watch the horror of the last game. The Canucks have juggled lines and brought back Stillman but these minor changes are unlikely to ease concerns that they are destined for mediocrity this season. Their opponents are winless on their western swing after losses to the Albertan franchises and will be eager to pick up a win tonight. Prized acquisition Matthew Tkachuk is -3 on the road trip so far and would love to add to his 10-goal season. Aleksander Barkov is possible to return for this game and brings additional checking help. One dangerous stat is that Florida has yet to record a comeback this year when down multiple goals when they led the league in comebacks last season. Some people say that Florida falling into the sea would help the US, some think that the NHL should withdraw teams there so that prime talents are not wasted and forgotten amongst a population that cares more about Tim Tebow. In the end Florida is just another test for a Canucks team which has failed most of them so far this season. If you're feeling down about the Canucks then there's always some fun news out of Florida to help: MATCH-UP INFO Tonight marks the first of two meetings between the Canucks and Panthers this season: Dec. 1 (home) and Jan. 14 (away). The Canucks are 18-11-6-4 all-time against the Panthers, including a 10-3-5-2 record at home. Vancouver is 4-5-1 in their last 10 games vs Florida (2-2-1 in their last 5). Among active Canucks skaters, J.T. Miller (6-11-17 in 21 GP) and Tyler Myers (2-15-17 in 30 GP) lead the team in scoring against Florida with 17 points. Luke Schenn leads the team in career games played against the Panthers (39). Elias Pettersson has five points (1-4-5) in five career games against Florida. Thatcher Demko is 1-2-0 in his career vs the Panthers, posting a 4.04 GAA and .887 SV%. Spencer Martin is 1-0-1 in his career against Florida, posting a 0.92 GAA and .971 SV% QUICK NUMBERS J.T. Miller has 11 points (4-7-11) in his last 10 games and is on a nine-game point streak (4-7-11). I will say quite a few of Demko’s goals were of the deflating kind though. Those soft ones or ones given up right after we tie it or take the lead.
