Another couple points tonight. It looks like he might actually finish the season with the highest point total he's ever had, which seemed like an impossibility earlier in the season. Really happy with how he's turned it around. I've also been pretty impressed with Rathbone since being called up. Just goes to show that you never write someone off completely. Yeah, I have the feeling that the captaincy might not be a good fit with Petey. It's a dangerous game and teams know that. Start to float/coast and those habits can set in pretty quickly. Losers tank but that's not always a winning strategy...that stuff sticks. hockeyfan-observer Posted March 27, 2023 Share Posted March 27, 2023 Great victory tonight - perhaps, should they be mathematically out, they should continue to push all the players till season's end - give us hope for next year and indicate to the fans that they play with focus regardless of the situation. Looking at the current point standings - we will probably finishing 12th - don't think they will catch Nashville Calgary - also Ottawa and Florida will also be pretty tough as they actually have to make a run having given up their first rounder this year. Yep, initially Bruce was just what the doctor ordered. The guys were in a black hole and needed to believe in themselves again...build some confidence and momentum. But that only carried them so far, then it was time to reach beyond that. Hit the next level, and Demko being out was a pretty big deal. Hard to overcome that one. Rick is the next progression that they needed. After being "nurtured" by Bruce, now Rick can move in and apply some of the tough stuff...conditioning and work ethic. It was actually a good transition from one to the other...Bruce certainly served a purpose and did his job.
