  1. He was "one of us" for a moment. Almost childlike. It was wholesome haha.
  2. I honestly don't think he can go wrong strictly going BPA. I feel new GMs want to find their steals of the draft or force it based specifically off need. I have a good feeling about this FO.
  3. Alright, Alright, Alright! Draft Day! Got my braces off yesterday and couldn't be happier. My boys first draft day, he won't remember, but i'll tell him all about it! My (mostly complete) draft board: Rutger McGroarty – C – 6’1 205 – NCAA – Michigan Consolidated Ranking: 22 McGroarty shines in the offensive zone, displaying elite goal-scoring and playmaking ability. He's a slick puck handler. Liam Ohgren – LW – 6’1 201 - Djurgårdens IF Consolidated Ranking: 20 He plays with such a high level of pace, tracking loose pucks and is tenacious when engaging in a battle for possession. He’s a high-end playmaker and his shot is always on display. He’s excellent with the puck on his stick thanks to his stand-out creativity. He is very calm and patient while knowing how to use his puck to protect the puck. He makes difficult plays look easy and seems to stand out in every game. Danila Yurov – RW – 6’1 172 – KHL Consolidated Ranking: 9 Great skater, makes plays in small spaces. Uses open ice well and makes quick decisions. Straight line speed, more of a 1 way player. Projected middle 6 NHLer. Good shot, Good vision. All around, very solid player without much downside. Marco Kasper – C – 6’2 187 – SHL Consolidated Ranking: 17 He’s relentless and can be a real pain to go up against in those situations as he has a great work ethic and motor to his game. He has the potential to be a great addition as a second or third line centreman. Jimmy Snuggerud – RW – 6’2 185 – NCAA Consolidated Ranking: 23 He plays with a high level of intensity and compete, playing with conviction every time he’s on the ice. He can hurt you with his skating, his hands or his shot. He can score from anywhere on the ice as he has a quick wrist shot or can unleash a powerful one-timer. Snuggerud is a well-rounded three-zone player with a versatile offensive game. His head is always up and on a swivel, even in congested areas. He’s good below the goal line and makes a lot of low-to-high plays into the slot to find cutting teammates for chances. Didn't get around to D men, but at 15, I think BPA will still be somebody we all want!
  4. He'd be on the Ulf Samuelsson, Darius Kasparaitis tier of dirty hits, but he fought a lot, too.
  5. Wow...Always remember Marchment as being such a tough, hard to play against D man. I vividly remember a game against the Sharks where he absolutely flattened Bertuzzi and it was like when Drago gets cut in Rocky IV when you realize the beast is human. Unreal. We aren't guaranteed tomorrow. Rest easy, Bryan.
  6. I definitely remembered you and noticed the absense. @andygill @Zebedee @Carebear @Mr. Brown a few others than randomly popped into my head the other day.
  7. Ya, I suppose it was a lot of growing pains with new teams back then. I have been trying to learn as much about players before my time. It seemed like the 80s throughout the NHL had some characters and fun players to watch. I'm assuming had I been old enough to remember 80s hockey (b. 1985) I would have been a huge Curt Fraser guy haha.
  8. I am with you about drafting OJ, too. I argued tooth and nail with another Nucks fan buddy who wanted Tkachuk (who I also wanted, but had to defend the selection) and now I feel like such an idiot for defending like a blind homer. Never again. Follow up question for you, Joe: Since you have been around since day 1 of the franchise, who was a player in the 70s you did not particularly care for, but was popular among fans?

  10. This has been a topic for Veterans as well. As a Vet myself suffering everyday of the effects of PTSD, sometimes we want something a little different than pills, pills, and more pills! I am a medicinal marijuana user, but have recently been reading more about the use of Psilocybin and might try and find out more information about how I can get involved in something like this.
  11. Copium. I like to cut it up real fine and snort it straight into both nostrils. It's been a great Monday, really.
  12. Nice work, Gator! I like your edits!
  13. Great write up, High! I think the first 3 mock drafts I looked at had Marco Kasper going to Vancouver and the more I dig in, the more he is definitely up there on my draft list. I always put together a top 3 or 5 so that i'm not totally out of the loop on draft day for who we might land (depending on where we pick!). I've been so out of it this season but this thread has had some good conversations to keep me more up to date. I'm excited to see the direction the new regime wants to take and have a hopeful feeling I won't be saying 'who?!' or 'WHY!!!!!???' like in years past haha!
  14. Still trying to gauge who might be there at 15. It seems like we keep being tied to Marco Kasper (as per mock drafts). I might be in the minority but so far from what I have watched or read, I would not mind Rutger McGroarty at 15. We have too many perimeter forwards and McGroarty would add another dynamic to either top 2 lines. "Much like his teammate Cutter Gauthier, Rutger McGroarty is an offensive-minded power forward, who excels at just about everything in the attacking third of the ice. Not only is he capable of using his offensive prowess to generate high-danger chances in the offensive zone, but he makes trying to defend him an absolute nightmare for opponents." - smahtscouting.com At the end of the day, Canucks need to be harder to play against without giving up much offense and McGroarty fits the bill, just seems like footspeed (similar to the knock on Horvat before being drafted) is a bit of an issue.
  15. I absolutely did. This year, personally, was a whirlwind! We had our 1st baby, so most of the games were watched late at night on PVR. I love that I was able to watch Canucks hockey with my son, although he will not remember the product on the ice, I am glad that Boudreau really turned the excitement level up. It reminded me a lot of the WCE days. High flying offense, mobile defensemen, and defensive zone coverage that could be an adventure.
  16. The Oxbow Ox, Baby! Guy is nails and hope it brings in a new generation of fast power forwards with a mean streak.
  17. Boro seems like a stand up guy. When he was in Ottawa he had 2 tickets to every game reserved for Veterans from SoldierOn! and their families. I like throwback blueliners and big, tough bottom 6 players who can play a regular shift. Tanner Jeannot from Nashville is a guy i'd want a whole team of. As for obscure/throwback D men, I enjoy watching Nikita Zadorov and Radko Gudas. Guys who hit like a truck and play with an edge.
  18. Oh wow, you're right! I always thought that was it for him, thanks for correcting me!
  19. I remember watching this scrap as a kid thinking Jovo Cop was an absolute killer.
  20. Old time Hackey! It's funny thinking late 90s is now old time hockey. Wow, i'm getting old, too.
  21. If anybody has a good line combo resource other than what we are using, Bachelor/Drancer still have Motte in the lineup haha.
