Somehow I don't think Bartoli is bothered by the opinions of the intellectually inferior. ............ (wondering how they tested Davinci's IQ?)

Marion-Bartoli-665x385.jpg

Marion Bartoli, the new Wimbledon champion did not only win her first ever Grand Slam, but is reportedly very smart.

By her own admission, her IQ is 175 which is higher than Albert Einstein and Thomas Edison. Quite impressive.

The average American, as well as the average French, has a modest IQ of 98. This number puts her in the top 0.0003 percent of the world.

Not only a good tennis player, but with the brains to go with her talent on the court.

Marion Bartoli easily took the final, in what was close to becoming the most lopsided final in Wimbledon’s history. Fortunately, her rival German player Sabine Lisicki, had some energy left to put up a fight in the second set, but it wasn’t enough.

Lisicki famously eliminated No. 1 seed, American Serena Williams, the heavy favorite to win the Championship, after Maria Sharapova was eliminated in the early rounds.

Bartoli was the runner up in the 2007 tournament in which she lost to three-time former champion Venus Wiliams.

She was asked about the comments regarding her high IQ by reporters following a semifinal win at the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells.

“I did a test when I was younger, but I’m not really someone that is really telling everyone, ‘Oh, I’m so smart.’ I’m kind of hiding it. But that’s how I am, you know. It just comes naturally. That’s how I was born with.”

The French player has received some criticism for voicing out the fact that she is so smart, but it doesn’t seem to bother her.

Her father is a doctor who enjoys playing chess, so that would explain were her brains come from.

Bartoli, 28, won convincingly against an apparently overwhelmed Lisicki, who was near tears during parts of the match. She later confessed that she was indeed taken over by all that happened to her after beating Williams.

Marion Bartoli was ranked No. 15 in the world before her win at Wimbldedon.

Outstanding! Way to Marion................judging by what goes on over here in the UK, I think the average IQ of our soccer players is about 20 on a good day.

At the end of the day we should all remember the only thing that matters is a "good heart" :)

I hope she wins Wimbledon for the next 5 years just to piss them off. The BBC were no better (as hv88 says) when John Inverdale was also detrimental about her looks. But JI is one of the most despised commentators on TV.

Even Pat Cash the well known Aussie loudmouth deemed it appropriate to say this in an interview in 2009

Pat Cash has launched an astonishing attack on Scottish Wimbledon hopeful Andy Murray who he described as being "ugly" and "boring", according to a report in The Star.

"The 44-year-old, who won the men's singles title at Wimbledon in 1987, said that Murray was "never going to be eye-candy" and claimed he had a "monotonous" voice.

Speaking ahead of Murray's second-round match, Cash said: "He has the most boring, monotone voice in the history of the planet."

I can't stand the guy. We agree on another thing... what is happening?

Seriously though, bringing someone's looks into sport is pathetic and hugely irrelevant.

5 Canadian men and 2 Canadian Woman move on to the 2nd round of the Rogers Cup. Even more amazing is that besides Raonic, the other 4 guys (Pospisil, Peliwo, Levine, and Dancevic) are just wildcards invited into the Main Draw. Filip Peliwo is only 19 and from Vancouver. Pospisil (71st in the world) managed to edge past American John Isner (20th in the world) 5-7, 7-6(5), 7-6(4)

In Round 2 on Wednesday, Levine has it tough against Nadal, while Dancevic faces Jerzy Janowicz (18th in the world), Peliwo plays Denis Istomin (66th in the world), Pospisil plays Radek Stepanek (51st in the world) and Raonic plays Mikhail Youzhny (25th in the world)

Raonic plays Juan Martin Del Potro (7th in the world) while Pospisil plays Tomas Berdych (6th in the world) in round 3.

I think Canada would be lucky to have even one Canadian man left in the QF. Though Del Potro did have to go 3 sets against the 35th ranked player in order to make the 3rd round, and anything's possible.

Nadal is almost a lock at clay, and it looked like he'd eclipse Federer for a good while. But with Federer simply just getting older, and Nadal being given all the injury problems, it's finally lowered them both to the point where other people can play on equal ground. Sometimes anyway. I think it'd honestly be hard for Nadal to win 5 to catch up to Federer. His knees on top of his style of play will really hurt him as the years pass. Though, I guess he could.

And I wouldn't really be surprised if Federer snuck in another win somewhere. He's an amazing shot maker. Guys with that type of skill always age just a little better than the guys who play like Nadal.

I'm two days late but I've got to bring this up, I still can't believe that Posposil managed to defeat John Isner when his service game left Vasek basically defenseless as he put up ace after ace. Good for the Canadian kid though!

He's moving on up in the rankings for sure. His game against Berdych was amazing.
