Rainfall warning for

Metro Vancouver continued

50 to 80 mm of rain expected tonight through Saturday.

This is a warning that significant rainfall is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

The low pressure system now appears to be on track to cross the southern part of Vancouver Island Saturday morning and to move slowly eastward through the Lower Mainland. Consequently amounts of 30 to 60 mm are expected across much of the South Coast ahead of the low with the higher amounts along the west coast of Vancouver Island. As the low moves eastward on Saturday amounts of 20 to 40 mm are forecast with the higher amounts near the low. Total amounts from the event are expected to be up to 50 mm across much of the Lower Mainland with up to 80 mm over the north shore and in the Western Fraser Valley. Meanwhile winds while becoming strong and locally gusting up to 80 km/h are expected to remain below warning criteria.

Rainfall Warning for Coastal British Columbia

Active for next 15 hours Locations: Metro Vancouver; Fraser Valley - west including Abbotsford

An additional 10 to 15 mm of rain this afternoon for a storm total of about 40 to 60 mm.

This is a warning that significant rainfall is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

An intense low pressure system will cross the Lower Mainland today, bringing with it some heavy rain, followed by strong westerly winds. We now have issued a wind warning for Victoria for westerly winds reaching 70 km/h near Juan de Fuca strait. Other parts of the Lower Mainland will see strong winds as well. Northwest winds will approach 70 km/h near the Strait of Georgia over the western portions of Metro Vancouver and strong gusts are likely through the Fraser Valley as well later this afternoon and early this evening.
