higgins-pahlsson-hansen is a beast third line. i would pick pahlsson to center my third line over hodgson in a playoff run on any day of the week.

p.s

games: 19
goals: 2
assists: 4
plus/minus: +4
faceoffs: 52.6%

(couldnt find his faceoff % just with the canucks so that is for the entire season)

Sami for sure. There is now no favourable matchup for the opponent's top line. All lines aside from the Sedin one can be used as a shutdown line, and the Sedins will cycle all game long, tiring them out.

As someone who was not a fan of the trade, I must admit that I really like this 3rd line (I didn't know if SP had enough in the tank, but clearly he's the type of player when put in the right situation can excel).

Pahlsson hands down.

So much more experience and composure.

Sound defensively and produces offensively against top lines - something Hodgson wasn't up to the task for.

Pahlsson, Hodgson obviously has more upside for the future but he was a defensive liability and would be a matchup disaster in the playoffs. Gillis said it best in his recent interview, we now have a third line with an identity that can play against any line in the league.

Pahlsson's for sure. Kopitar would have ran all over CoHo whereas we now have a legitimate shutdown guy who can take pressure of the Sedin's and Kesler when it comes to shutting down scoring lines.

I wouldn't go so far as to call him a liability, but he's not as strong yet defensively against NHL-calibre lines. He was playing sheltered minutes here, and maybe he would have stepped it up in the playoffs, but it was definitely a question mark.

With Pahlsson, he answered any questions people had about him coming in, whether it was about his lack of offence, if he is still as good a player as he was when with the Ducks, etc.

Either would be good, both haven't looked good without Higgins/Burrows on their line. But considering it's playoffs, Sami Pahlsson all the way.
Sig too big.

Pahlsson on 3rd, Hodgson on 2nd.
Untouchables: Tanev, Jensen, Kassian
Mostly untouchable: Sedins (need someone to man the fort and no trade value)
Open to trade: Everyone else
Drive to airport: Bieksa, Edler

Bring back: Ehrhoff

Higgins-Pahlsson-Hansen bye a wide margin. They will not score as many goals but are solid defensively. On the basis of goals for and goals against for a line it would be much worse with Hodgson instead of Pahlsson. T
here was a really good article in the sun about this.
Hodgson may score goals but he doesn't come close to outscoring his defensive mistakes because his skating is not nearly good enough to do so. In long run it might work out well for the Canucks but for at least this season it's worked well.

This is the article I mentioned

It is a landslide for Pahlson. This trade will shore up the back end and take some pressure off the D.

For this year? Pahlsson all the way. Not only is he a legitimate shut down guy but, people perhaps are forgetting what the Manny injury last year cost us, which was, Kesler in an offensive role. This leaves Kesler to play offense!

In the future, obviously Hodgson has more left in him and more upside but if Schroeder comes through and some other things this will still all work out. Plus if we win this year we can worry about the future later for now I'm focused on one thing and one thing alone.

Higgens-Pahlsson-Hansen will be a critical line for us in the playoffs, this third is dominant and can put up points when needed.

Pahlsson.

But anyway, I didn't like the Kassian - Hodgson trade, if Cody was a winger, he would fit perfectly in our 2nd line, Kassian didn't produce anything at all in march.

Pahlsson can play a shut down role so well whereas cody wasn't really a defensive player which is why MG did the trade. Phalsson line all the way

Hodgson was better offensively. Our 3rd line now with Pahlsson can be used as more of a shutdown line thereby allowing Kesler's line to be more offensive, which should give us 2 great lines with a 3rd line contributing every now and then. Overall with Pahlsson we can match-up more effective than with Hodgson.
