Jester@wraiths.ca
Our last semi-consistent goalie before Luongo was Coutier. He had 3 straight 30-win seasons, got us to the playoffs every year he was the starter, and set several Canucks records. And yet he had a reputation for falling apart in the playoffs, and was probably one of the most hated Canucks' goalies of all time. The fans' perception of Luongo reminds me very much of this. Canucksbiggestfan
I love Luongo, I mean I can't say that enough. I have to admit though, Schneider is playing like a boss and is coming up huge.
Tanev's Smirk
Technically, Linden did get chased out of Vancouver. By Keenan and Messier.
MoneypuckOverlord
The jaw dropping goaltending we witnessed from Schneider is the type of goaltending that is needed to win a Stanley cup.... Cause you know.... we can use the "oh it was the defence fault" for some of the kings scoring chances they had. The difference is, is that goalie able to come out and bail the team out? He continued to do it non stop. When Kopitar gave them the lead, Kings smellled blood. Wanted to go for the kill. They went for it. Who is the last line of defence?? Cory Schneider. He single handidly turn them back, and we scored tying goal followed by the go ahead goal. Talk about momentum changers?? How bout the penalty shot. Stopped that too. W.t.f! That is goaltending that will win a team a Stanley cup!

Femme.Canuck
I agree- its a few dumb fans who have a personal hate for him who get increased vocalisation and then everyone assumes the entire fan base hates him. I love him. I feel bad for him-- hes got nothing but tough times here.
soshified
Dan played slightly above his contract. Besides Luongo's first season here he seems to have gotten worse as the team around him has gotten better. Although as the team allowed more shots on him he picked up his game. Guess he excels when the team plays like an expansion team from the east feel.

darkpoet
The fanbase in Vancouver has ripped through 17 goalies between McLean and Luongo. 17 goalies dressed for us in 7 years. People here rip goalies apart insanely. The only goalies that seem to be able to handle it have to be totally calm, ice cold when it comes to the fans reaction. Luongo is emotional, but has succeeded because of his great skill, but the emotional toll builds up. He is 2nd in the history of the NHL for wins in a season, he's got the best winning percentage of any goalie in the franchise history, and the fanbase here thinks he's garbage. It really comes down to fan stupidity...
forevernucks19
Ok, if any of you do not hate Lui then you don't have to read. WHY? Why do you all hate Luongo? What has he ever done to us? Nothing. Those times in which you say he "melted down", no. The only reason he "melted down" was because he was the only goalie playing. If Schneids wins today I can guaranty that Lui and Schneids will lead us to the cup. Anyway, I'm off topic, why do you all hate Luongo? He's never done anything bad to us, or at least not on purpose. So come on, cheer on both of our goalies and GO CANUCKS GO.
-Vintage Canuck-
The hate is not on Luongo, both goalies have been playing tremendous but Schneider has been the better goalie.

eagleeyedak
Its just not even close any longer. AV, and clearly with the input of GMMG, made the decision tonight who's the Canuck goaltender moving forward. The question now becomes how does Luongo leave town... Tm085
Lu must be loving this, if Schneids does well then he knows they'll go with him as #1 and he can finally get out of this city and away from the media And if Schneids loses and we get eliminated he won't get blamed for once!
