The Sedin's 6th Sense
To Vancouver: David Clarkson Peter Sykora To New Jersey: Manny Malhotra Mason Raymond Van 3rd ...Malhotra's contract expires next year, so does Clarkson's, and Raymond's expires this year, along with Sykora. If Sykora calls it a career, we get cap space, and this trade gives us cap space either way. Also, Clarkson is an improvement over Raymond, and we get more experience with Sykora while Malhotra is better than Sykora to some extent.

Phil_314
lol really think Lou Lamoriello would make that move? Clarkson's just emerged as almost a power forward for them, and Sykora was (even at times during this season) an effective complementary scorer. Doubtful that Manny and Raymond (who has been having another weak season) plus a 3rd would be enough; not sure if they have a strong PK face-off guy, so Manny could be that and Sykora IS getting old and it could work on that front, but I wouldn't take Raymond and 3rd for Clarkson, who has scored 30. sampy
I would assume that NJ would love to have Luongo. Similar cap hit, similar for a similar pedigree goalie, it's not a big shakeup for them at all. Luongo, Raymond and a 1st for Clarkson and Parise's rights...... If only life were like NHL

ButterBean
This makes no sense at all. Clarkson is coming off a career year and he's a gritty power forward. Manny and Raymond are essentially our scraps right now.
Guest The Brown Burrows
Clarkson just scored 30 for them this year.

Jimmy.crack.corn
Alright so to sum things up. David Clarkson is better than Raymond. Malhotra to some extent is better than Sykora (not really sure in what way). We save cap space. Okay now that we got all of our benefits out of the way. Why exactly to the Devils make this trade? ? Bure fan
Martin Broduer is 39 and im sure he is ready to call it quits after this year's playoffs. Next to take over the Number 1 spot is Hedberg? Who is 38 ... NJD is in desperate need of a goaltender. My proposal is : To Canucks : Parise's Rights, 5th round pick To New Jersey: Luongo, 3rd round pick,( or more to make it work fairly) I know people are thinking that this no way solves the real defense issue we have with our team . But as it has been said "the defense is a good offense". And with Parise playing on the second line with Kesler and Booth would be devastating. Basically Elite two First lines scoring at will. Not to mention Gilles could still pull some moves out to get a good defenseman. Making our team unstoppable . Plain and simple if this could work out .lol
VaNux
If anything I would say Luongo for Parise and a conditional first. The conditional first is is paid if Parise does not sign.
Smashian Kassian
2.) Malhotra has a limited NTC, which may make this trade a no go. Further, why would you want to trade Malhotra? He will be needed to center the third line next season.

klw604
Clarksons having a career year, no team trades away a power forward that can score for a soft winger.
Smashian Kassian
I'd be inclined to give him one more year, or at least a portion thereof, in the AHL. Malhotra has shown he is still a very capable face-off guy and he has one year left on his contract. regards, G.
Gollumpus
Exactly why he should be on the 4th like he is now. Just cause he can take faceoffs doesn't mean he should be on the third, with the personnel we put on that line we expect them to bring offence which is why Schroeder is a good player to put there, he really made huge strides this year both offensively and defensively, he's been playing against men for a few years now and he should be ready to make the jump. So lets give him that chance.
