Fakename70
Geez, the anti-Luongo contingent just can't seem to let an opportunity to twist the knife go by, can they? Let's not confuse his potentially leaving the Canucks with the Bure situation. Unlike Pavel, IF Lu leaves as has been speculated, it will be on good terms with team management and a totally amicable parting. Contrary to what the idiotic Boston media were saying in January, the guy is a competitor and still wants to play as a #1, not as a #1a or, as a backup. But, all signs appear to point to his days in Vancouver as the clear #1 as being over. He's not stupid. He sees this. Why should he be thrown under the bus for simply wanting to play rather than cheer lead his successor from the bench for the rest of his Canuck career if he feels he can still contribute? What would YOU do in the same situation? Particularly if you could practically punch your own ticket out --- hopefully to a contender --- and into a situation where you could be #1 on the depth chart again? He's on the right side of 35 and still has a handful of years left before backup status really sets in. Seeing the writing on the wall in Vancouver, why wouldn't he waive his NTC? I'd question his heart and commitment to the game if he didn't! The guy's been total class throughout this entire ordeal, both this season and last, yet some Canuck fans still want to minimize his contribution to the team during his tenure almost as if he never existed and don't think he deserves ROH status someday after he retires? Unbelievable.
SukhKular
Keep in mind if not for Luongo, Schneider's development probably would have been rushed and he wouldn't be the goalie he is today. Not every goalie gets to turn 26 before being a starter and having no pressure on them whatsoever.
Ghostsof1915
Ring of Honour for sure. The save of the year highlight would win: The Great Save Luongo Award!

shimy1
i feel like a requirement for the number retirement would be remaining here for the rest of his career. I always hoped he would do that, unfortunately its looking more and more like he wont, and its a damn shame.
-AJ-
I'm actually surprised at how many think his number should be retired. Not disappointed really, but considering how much he was bashed upon, I expected most people to say that he didn't deserve anything.
Burnsey
A pat on the back, a big thanks and good luck! Players who ask to be traded shouldn't, imo, receive ROH. Jersey retirement for Luongo would be absolutely ridiculous.
Moonshinefe
He should get Ring of Honour max. If McClean got the ROH, then Luongo should I suppose.
