[Rumours/Reports] Official Roberto Luongo Trade Thread (Keep it all here please)

I hope the reason Gillis isn't signing anyone isn't because he's being held up by not being able to trade Luongo.

We're allowed to go over the cap by 7 million, but that would kind of hurt his bargaining position even more.

With a Luongo trade we have around 8 million, which would give us enough for another top 6 defenceman and a top 6 forward.

I'd love to get Franson... lol Florida really has nothing interesting to offer, next to Versteeg.

I really hope it's not a guarenteed trade partner, there's a lot of other teams that would be more suitable.

If MG signed Doan then his Lou position becomes even stronger. After watching Doan's face after the Yotes were elimiated makes me think he will move to a CUP contending team. Unfortunately his family is well situated in Pheonix so it might be more likely he looks at the west coast or Dallas. One or two year deal.

Best defenseman prospect.

Young, bottom-pair right-side defenseman

Best three forward prospects.

1st rounder.

This asking price, if true, is indeed insane. But y'know what? Burke would've paid it. And TO would've been immediately better.

What's the Florida equivalent?

If a trade is unreachable with the Florida Panthers, the Vancouver Canucks might be forced to resume talks with the Toronto Maple Leafs about goalie Roberto Luongo.

Should that be the case, Luongo would then be forced to reconsider his options and allow the Canucks to move him to Toronto.

So far, Luongo has been reluctant to move from his stance of only wanting to accept a trade to South Florida, where he lives in the off-season.

However, if a deal is not possible -- and talks with the Panthers are ongoing -- the Leafs might be Vancouver's only option, should they push to deal him.

A source close to the Canucks told TFP the team is in the market for a playmaking second-line center, as Ryan Kesler will be out of action until January.

Canucks GM Mike Gillis has made several inquiries, both via free agency and the trade front, but has so far come up empty.

It's believed the Maple Leafs would be willing to include center Tim Connolly in a package for Luongo, though Connolly has a limited no-trade clause and might have to approve a move.

Connolly, 31, has one-year remaining on his current contract. While his cap hit is $4.75 million, he'll only earn $4 million in actual salary this coming season.

The Canucks would want a top young talent added to a package.

It's unclear how trade negotiations between the Canucks and Panthers have progressed, but if talks begin to quiet, the Leafs could be poised to make a move -- Luongo permitting, of course.
