Armada
As you guys know me, I'm a real arse when it comes down to making proposals so now its your turn to criticize me. So here is my fair trade for Luongo to Florida. To Vancouver Shawn Matthias © Jose Theodore (G) Quinton Howden (LW) To Florida Roberto Luongo (G) Mason Raymond (LW) To summarize: Vancouver gets Shawn Matthias who centers the 3rd line adds size at 6 foot 4 with a bit of offensive upside (Two-way forward) which is gonna be helped playing with Higgins and Hansen. Then Jose Theodore who will backup Cory Schneider capable of playing +30 games and being reunited with his ex-goalie coach from Montreal, Roland Melanson. Finally the key peice is talented rookie Quinton Howden, who was drafted after being acquired from us by Florida in the Grabner-Ballard trade. He's a LW with size at 6 foot 3 and pretty NHL ready, in fact he's most likely to make the Panthers lineup this year and play on the 3rd line wing. I say we put him in the AHL and let him develop even more. The kid has potential to be a top 6 winger and is one of the higher ranked rookies in the league. As for Florida they get an elite top 10 goalie in Roberto Luongo and a talented speedy winger in Mason Raymond. This is our lineup (Also like to add that we signed Shane Doan) 2012-13 Vancouver Canucks: FORWARDS Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) / Alexandre Burrows ($2.000m) David Booth ($4.250m) / Ryan Kesler ($5.000m) / Shane Doan ($4.500m) Chris Higgins ($1.900m) / Shawn Matthias ($0.852m) / Jannik Hansen ($1.350m) Manny Malhotra ($2.500m) / Maxim Lapierre ($1.000m) / Zack Kassian ($0.870m) Dale Weise ($0.701m) / Andrew Ebbett ($0.600m) DEFENSEMEN Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m) / Kevin Bieksa ($4.600m) Jason Garrison ($4.600m) / Alexander Edler ($3.250m) Keith Ballard ($4.200m) / Chris Tanev ($0.900m) Andrew Alberts ($1.225m) GOALTENDERS Cory Schneider ($4.000m) Jose Theodore ($1.500m) ------ CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $66,497,125; BONUSES: $0 CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $3,702,875 All criticism welcomed. Froggy Fresh
Good proposal. The only thing I worry about is Howden's concussion from the hit he took from Connolly. Hopefully he won't be prone to them in the future. Other than that, I like this proposal.

Avicii
What happens if we don't get Doan? You traded Luongo and Raymond. What other trade bait do we have? Can't trade Ballard for a top 6 forward AND a defenseman.
Ossi Vaananen
Think they'll do it if they sub out Howden for one of Petrovic/Bjugstad? Not sold on Howden. Other than that I like anything that rids us of Raymond. We aren't taking any cap back would be my only criticism. Fingers crossed on Doan, I hear we are 1 of 3. Master Mind
Doesn't Theodore have a NTC? If so, he wouldn't waive it to be a back up. But I'm not certain if he has a NTC or not.
Smashian Kassian
It's good but I think we could get one more thing. Nothing big but maybe one more minor piece. Like Skille or some other player like that or a pick or something. Raymond = Mattias Luongo > Theodore + Howden Some may even argue that Raymond is worth more. Either way I think those are some of the pieces we should hope for.

Jägermeister
Bjugstad instead of Matthias (patent pending).
Smashian Kassian
I agree completely but at this point where Luongo said in person that "Its time to move on", Gillis pretty much needs to trade Luongo and Tallon realizes this. So we can't really get full value out of Luongo anymore.

Armada
Bjugstad is NHL ready. Would be perfect for a 3rd line role.
CanucksFanMike
I think we can get more than that for lui, but a solid proposal! Also i'd rather go after Bobby Ryan via trade than Doan via free agency for second line RW. Doesn't Theodore have a NTC? If so, he wouldn't waive it to be a back up. But I'm not certain if he has a NTC or not.
70seven
I dont think the origional proposal is enough, and I defs think that MG will demanding one of Gudbranson, Kulikov, or Bjugstad in any deal.
70seven
there have also been various reports that Theodore has already denied to waive his NTC for Van, so its unlikley there would be a keeper coming back in the deal, which means Fla then has to find a landing spot for Thoedore that works, and also has to ogment the Luongo trade. This will take some time. Luongo, Hansen for Weiss, Bjugstad

The Sedin's 6th Sense
For the talk that Theodore won't waive his NTC to be a backup, realistically, I'm sure/think that Tallon can get him to do so cause either he's in Florida as a 3rd-4th stringer (Lu, Markstrom, Clemmenson/Theodore), or in Vancouver as a sure 2nd backup.
