I dont get it....98 mill x2, 110 m for big names...3-4 mil per yr for line plugs......and Nash goes for a song...a first and some players who will never reach half of Nash's skill level. So the value of a player is based on ..being a free agent? restricted or free? but if your a proven assest.. you get squat?!?!?! Well now we know for sure VALUE wise MG screwed up not getting value for Cory because we getting squat for Lou if Nash is an example of player undercontract vs what teams pay if not under contract or restricted.

The whole *&^%$^&* system messed up if thats how they valuing players now. Canucks missed the boat to get most value out of having 2 great goalies and the ability to cash in on one...now we get scraps for a great goalie who wants out (and rightfully so after being benched in playoffs when losses not his fault) because the other GM's going to only offer crap like they did for Nash knowing eventually they have to take whats offered.

Sad Sad day for Canuck fans who hoped MG would get something for Lou...no hope now

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

A serious response:

1. Why do you even bring up the 98/110 mill figures? You should be looking at the cap hit and the length of the contract. Who cares about the overall payout?

2. Yes, obviously a UFA can fetch more because ANY team can attempt to acquire them, and they don't have to give up any picks to do so. Demand drives up the cost. There's also no stigma attached to going after a UFA.

3. Nash != Luongo, and MG != Howson. Nash doesn't even play a comparable position to Luongo, and whoever our trading partner is will have a huge effect on what we can get out of them.

I think he meant vaulting. As in "I can't believe Nash got vaulted in NY". Or "it's incredible how Weber got a $110M offer sheet vaulted at him". Yup, it's vaulting.

I personally wouldn't mind if Gillis got what Howson got for Luongo. It would be an upgrade in some of the depth and a little bit of youth. Both of which could be peddled into either an upgrade in the top two lines or top 4 d.

There is no question these players are being overpaid. I say all the more power to these players if some owner is stupid enough to pay them that much money. I just don't want to hear these same owners whining and complaining about the high costs of players salaries.

I think the fact that all the big names have been moved that now the market can breath. Obviously MG wasn't in a rush to move Luongo, now teams that didn't spend money elsewhere might be looking to upgrade in goaltending.

Obviously Toronto, Florida and I guess Chicago are the teams being mentioned with a Luongo deal and none of those teams were able to land a player like Nash. This should help us in moving him.

Already a thread discussing Nash and lots of threads discussing MG's moves (or lack thereof)

Also, please don't make thread titles with swear filter bypasses in them.

Thanks
