Come on guys, leave it alone. No need to rehash it in every topic he starts.

Why not? It's more fun that way...

I kinda expect the locked-out league schedule to be started on January anyway.

Good I want him to come back when he's 100% so he doesn't reinjure himself like a fool again

Yea agreed, the guy has gotten it pretty rough, bashing him when he's down and out isn't cool, I'm also guilty of doing it in the past, and regret it now, no more of it

Rather have him healed up 100% rather than rush back and then make excuses for why he didn't play well. Plus this creates an opportunity for someone else to take over the 2nd line C spot

Guess Kesler realizes he doesn't need to rush back as Hodgson has no chance of taking his #2 spot.

He was coming off a 40 goal/selke trophy season...pretty sure he had some job security!

Don't worry the excuses will still come, that's something you can count on for sure.

That is good to hear. I would rather have Kesler back when he is 100% than have him play sub par and get injured again.
Besides players that come back early to help the team are trashed by CDC (see Bieksa and Ballard)....why would any player want to return under those circumstances.
If Vancouver is going to make a big splash in the playoffs, they at least need a healthy team going in.....no more rushing players back too early. We have some prospects in Chicago who are ready for some game experience so give them the chance instead of rushing out and signing a veteran who is rapidly on the decline. As long as we are not in danger of missing the playoffs, give guys like Schroeder, Connaughton, Jensen etc a chance to gain some valuable development time and experience. We will be a better team down the road because of it.

He'll be on the IRL, so we can always sign Doan and Arnott, trade Luongo shortly after.. Then trade Raymond before Kes comes back December. It will all work out, don't worry my fellow fans. :P

What excuses? He played injured, didn't make excuses, and 90% of our team played like crap anyways. What do you expect?

So he'll likely play 60 games, put up 20 goals and 40 points. That's at least 10 goals and 20 points that need replacing in 2 months across our forwards, so we'll need another center.

I have a feeling that this may just be a way to regain some leverage in a possible Luongo trade. If we sign Doan, that would put us over the cap. Being over the cap and needing to shed salary gives advantage to other teams in trade duscussions. Going on record and saying Kesler will not be back before December (even if it isn't true) automatically gives the impression of LTIR cap relief, therefore we wouldn't "need" to have him traded before the season starts, keeping us in a position of strength in trade talks

In October and November (assuming Luongo is still on the roster and we sign both Doan and Arnott):
Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Booth - Arnott - Doan
Higgins - Lapierre - Hansen
Raymond - Malhotra - Kassian
Weise - Ebbett - Pinizzotto*

Edler - Garrison
Hamhuis - Bieksa
Ballard - Tanev

Schneider
Luongo

In December forwards (assuming Luongo is still on the roster and we sign both Doan and Arnott):
Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Booth - Kesler - Doan
Higgins - Arnott - Hansen
Lapierre - Malhotra - Kassian
Raymond - Ebbett - Pinizzotto*
Weise*

Edler - Garrison
Hamhuis - Bieksa
Ballard - Tanev

Schneider
Luongo

That would be the best roster the team has ever iced and I would feel comfortable riding a tandem where both goalies play 41 games with. In the playoffs, ride the hot hand. (Not possible due to cap, though) :towel:

* = extra forwards

You are a fool. Where's the cap space for Doan, Arnott and Luongo? Most people like you live in lala land.

Hopefully, Kesler sits out until he is %100 ready to play.

healthy Kesler > injured Kesler

I totally agree, even if he needs till April.

Oh Gillis, just had to jump the gun on Cody didn't you, trading Cody has done nothing positive for this team yet, it has been negative, and now it's kicking you in the butt even more LOL serves you right.

Don't worry, Kassian has been vying for the 2nd line center position. Just ask his dad...

Thank you.

Additionally, it has been said (and even if it wasn't, I would have figured) that Gillis would not sign Arnott AND Doan. One aging player is enough.

As well - make no mistake about it - Luongo WILL be traded. There is absolutely ZERO chance we play the season with both goalies. None.

But I do agree - the addition of Doan would make it the best team we've iced. Although I do see Doan on the 1st line and Burrows on the 2nd.

This is why Shane Doan is a must.

Or anybody who can stand up for the team and put a decent amount of points on the board in the playoffs.

Doana only stands up for himself .. and only then when forced to .. his style is more to retaliate with a cheap, dirty shot to an unsuspecting head, with a resultant penalty to his team, plus the occasional suspension .. too many folks on here have a misguided notion of who and what Doana really is ..

Ryan Kesler’s agent on his shoulder surgery recovery,

“He’s not ahead of schedule and there’s no rushing him back. He’s on course to return in December and he’s not returning until he’s 100 per cent. Don’t expect him until December.”

Kelser also had wrist surgery on June 27th to clear up some mild discomfort and tendon issues. At Shane Doan’s meetings with the Canucks on Tuesday, contract structure wasn’t discussed. According to assistant GM Laurence Gilman,

“I know him but he had not met Mike [Gillis] or Francesco [Aquilini], so we spent some time getting to know each other and letting him get familiar with our organization and discuss where he would fit. It was an opportunity for him to learn about us and for us to get an understanding of what he’s about and what he’s looking for.”
