Yup, and apparently Mackinnon hasn't been as spectacular as he usually is lately.
Kid's playing at a goal per game and one point below 2 PPG. Point wise he's doing better than last year. I don't get to watch the games so I don't know about the other aspects of his game but the numbers would suggest that he's doing just fine.
did seguin make the team? did hall make the team his first try? did rnh play? they look for more than just skill to make this team...
Seguin, Hall and RNH didn't have anywhere close to the hype that MacKinnon does, and were nowhere close to as good as MacKinnon is right now when they were his age. If the goal is to have the best chance of winning then MacKinnon will be first line.
Also this is probably the only chance he'll get to play in the Juniors. There's no way that he isn't in the NHL next year and so long as there's a remote chance of his team making the playoffs come Christmastime they're not going to release him to play.
