A woman walking her dog found a severed human head in a cardboard box...

A headless corpse had been found a couple days before over 100km away, and it probably linked (Edmonton police put 1 + 1 together...)

The part that seemed well beyond stating the obvious though,

The Edmonton medical examiner performed an autopsy Monday and ruled the death a homicide.

Rly? You sure he didn't sever his own head and put it in an alley 130km away? Of course it's a homicide...

Wellll...he could have been decapitated post-mortem by some twisted psycho....but yeah..unlikely.

It's kind of unusual that the killer took the head over 100km away to just leave it in an alley. I could understand taking it a long way from the body to hide it well or something, but to just leave it in an alley in a cardboard box? Big risk transporting it.

I rarely, if ever, to offense to any joke. But this just seems wrong that majority of the responses so far have been attempts at making light of someone being murdered.

Again, this is not something that offends me, it just seems like CDC has hit a new low.

I'm going to get flak for this, but I am being brutally honest, so I'll understand.

Clearly, this was a heinous crime, as all murders are. This man probably did not deserve to die. I pray for him and his family.

On the other hand, this man is someone I did not know. To sit here and type out grievances just does not seem right. If I didn't know him, I should leave it at a RIP, and a prayer.

As for the "making light" of someone being murdered, they're jokes. Nothing more, nothing less. There have been jokes on a far more distasteful scale, whatever anyone has said thus far is peanuts in comparison.

We can't dwell on sadness, or else humanity is in big trouble. :)

jokes about a person's death are in pretty poor taste (time changes things of course, but when a death is recent, it's very low brow).
But it's a very good illustration of the state of our society.

Didn't happen to me so I don't care, lets make fun of it.

Sadly most people won't see the problem with that sort of mentality until they have some tragedy happen to someone they love, and then they see how callous and uncaring people are...

I have to admit, this was pretty good.Again though, I wasn't taking offense at all. As Jester just said, it does say something about the current state of society if our immediate reaction is, "Nobody I know, let's make fun of it."Not saying we should all just grow teary eyed over every story out there. Co-opting sadness for every tragedy that has nothing to do with us can become incredibly tiresome. But taking the opposite stance and joking about death just doesn't sit well (or standpoor).

Exactly. I don't get all sad and grieve when i hear of some tragic event to someone I didn't know, but I don't belittle the event either. A certain amount of respect should be shown.

All the jokes do is show that our society is growing more and more out of touch, and more and more uncaring and selfish. It doesn't have to be that way, but it takes people looking beyond themselves to see that, and in this me-me-me society, that seems more unlikely everyday...

I read about some crazy serial killer in the 60s who drove through 3 states with a girls severed head on top of his own like a hat. You cant rationalize the thinking of the kind of person who would do this.

You can't over saturate this forum with death and complain about it not impacting on people in the way that it should.
The death isn't even the theme anymore, just how it happened.

If you like looking at statistics to determine who's better, you're just a casual fan.

2.41 season GAA isn't very impressive. Let's not get into playoffs and his SV%.

Cory Schneider is the next Patrick Roy.

it takes all of one post about death to bring out the jokes.

Saying that because there is a number of death threads makes it socially acceptable to mock the events is every bit as ignorant as the mocking is. I guess I shouldn't expect better than that from this society though, thanks for reminding me of that.
