In regards to your post, see your signature.

Why the hell do people get so upset at someone speaking honestly rather than replying with no comment or cliches? He was being truthful when he said there were be an issue if Luongo starts 40 out of the 48 games but that he realizes the Canucks need time to orchestrate a deal involving a goalie of Luongo's calibre.

Mike Liut's follow up interview:
http://www.teamradio.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Mike-Liut-Full-Interview.mp3

Gillis' reaction interview (along with other stuff in there too):
http://www.teamradio.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Mike-Gillis-Feb-5th.mp3

Nothing sensational in either of them unless someone turns it into something more than what it is.

I'm not upset at all. As a matter of fact, I agree that Liut didn't actually say anything inflammatory or anything we didn't already know. The context of my post was not necessarily that what Liut said , but rather that he said anything at all. Of course the media does what they do and takes bit and pieces of Liut's comments to sensationalize their story...as witnessed by the headline that "Cory expected to play 75% of the games".

Since Liut's comments, the media in this city and in the centre of the universe have been running around like rabid dogs trying to get comments from anyone on the team, including management, about Liut's comments. Is Cory pissed off? How are teammates handling the "controversy"? Media looking for anything to hype the controversy story.

Was Liut actually articulating Cory's feelings? Was he just shooting from the hip in response to Vancouver media questions? I don't know. My point is though that given Cory gets the start , he would have felt enough pressure simply given how well Lui's been playing. Now he's got mic's shoved in his face having to answer to his agents remarks and the perception that he's been whining to him about playing time and in my view this adds additional pressure on him to perform well in Minny.

RT @VanCanucks: Cory Schneider will start vs. Wild tomorrow. #Canucks

That shouldn't happen. Luongo played well in the last few games.

Fair enough, but then shouldn't we blame the media and the people incorrectly assuming this is an issue? Saying his agent "ran his mouth" certainly suggests the conclusion I made, so it's reasonable to expect a response, but it at least was an opportunity to post more facts about the situation even if I was off base on your intent.

Everybody is covering their behind cuz Gillis is dragging on and on and on and on something that should have been long done before game #1 of this season. It is his perogative to upset his players and demand whatever.Don't think Gillis' effected players enjoy this or give him any positive due for what he has failed to accomplish.
Is this the best decision for the club's success? Should Luongo even be dealt now?
What was Cory promised and how long will Gillis keep the circus going without really p'ing off his new starter going forward?

Looks pretty ugly from here.

I thought it would be Luongo, but I think it's alright to give Schneids a start here. Especially considering it's Minnesota.

Yeah, I could have chosen better words for sure.

And absolutely all of us should be holding the media accountable for their ridiculous hyping a non-story really. I wish I knew how we could hold some of these guys feet to the fire on things like this.

I fear he might blow another game, since Minnesota has good playmakers and snipers, just as San Jose does.

It's easy to say stop reading papers and online articles, but hard to actually do as much as we wish we could. I'm with you on that one though.

I think Schneids won't worry about it, but I'm sure hoping I'm right.

Good call, Luongo is always lousy in Minny. I expect Schneider to play terrific, that's what you want here, for your goalies to be pushing each other to be better and better.

Xcel Energy Center has been a rough place for Lu. This isn't much of a surprise. Lets see what Cory can bring.

Schneider needs to get into a game. Lou has been traditionally bad in Minnesota. Nothing to see here, no controversy. Let's move along.

Your right, we should have dumped Lu for table scraps long ago rather than holding off to see if we can get something better in return for an elite player.

Great insight.

I'm a Luuuu supporter but I am glad Cory is starting, he deserves to play too... I think all these guys would love to try for a cup together this year while the salary cap allows them to take a crack at it as a team. After this season its obvious there will be a new look to the Canucks next year, whatever that look may be they are all team-mates right now.

i think its a great time to start schnieder!!! i like lu more, but i firmly believe we DO have two number one goalies, lu had a hot streak, you have to let a hot goalie run its course. with almost three days off, with travel, and the fact luongo has kinda poo'ed the bed in minny for years, its just a smart decision. if schnieder kicks some @$$, then follow the script, run him until he fizzles out, or the next back to back. no controversy here, we are trying to win games

I hope the Canucks are ready to play because during the last 2 seasons, our first visits to Minnesota have been absolute stinkers
6-2 loss with Lu getting pulled and last year a 5-1 loss where Cory was our best player on the ice.

San Jose walked all over the Canucks..was a bit of a shooting gallery. Hopefully, the Canucks have improved enough to play better in front of Cory than they did against San Jose. Will be a lot of pressure on Cory for sure and expectations are high. Minn. is tough at home and coming off 2 losses.
