Higgins, Hansen or Schroeder?
If it is one of the first two, they will be placed on the fourth line. If it is Schroeder, off to the wolves for him!
Who deserves to be demoted? Realistically none of them but maybe some less than others.
Higgins has 6 points (3,3), and is +1 with 26 hits and 23 shots in 13 games.
Hansen has 7 (3,4), is +5, 13 hits and 33 shots in 13 games.
Schroeder has 4 (2,2), is +3, 5 hits 15 shots in 11 games.

What would be best for the Canucks?
Higgins and Hansen both play a good two way game. They are fast and can hit and both have a bit of offensive talent. Scroeder is more of a speedy playmaker with a pretty good shot. He is by no means a liability in his own end but doesn't dominate by any means.

Schroeder. His lack of NHL experience, combined with Higgins heating up and Hansen having been one of our best forwards so far this season (stats aside) makes him "line-up expendable" so to speak.

I'd say Higgins.
Either way, I'm sure our 3rd and 4th lines will get nearly identical ice time anyways.

I think it's going to be Jannik Hansen since he's played with Maxim Lapierre quite a bit in the last 2.5 seasons. Alain Vigneault likes his pairs..

Sedin - Sedin - ???
Higgins - Kesler - ???
Raymond - Schroeder - ???
??? - Lapierre - Hansen

Insert as you wish.

Why not Kassian? He doesn't deserve a demotion, but he would fit well on the fourth line, unlike the other options. Plus he still gets PP time, spot shifts with the Sedins after PKs, and spot shifts at other times in the top-9.

I don't think anyone right now. I see Booth starting on the 4th line to work himself in.

If anything, I see Kassian getting demoted. He made some bad defensive plays against Dallas, and AV won't tolerate that for too long.

Hansen and Higgins have played their roles effectively: Physical, energy players who chip in with offense. Schroeder has fit in very well also.

Kassian. He has the grit to be effective on the fourth line. I predict lines to be:
Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Higgins - Kesler - Booth
Raymond - Schroeder - Hansen
Volpatti - Lappiere - Kassian

The OP isn't saying which player should be a healthy scratch, just which player should drop down a line when Booth returns.

I think Hansen would be the most effective fourth liner.

Sedin Sedin Burrows
Booth Kesler Kassian
Raymond Schroeder Higgins
Hansen Lappy Weise/Volpatti

Booth and Kesler need someone who can pass the puck. I think Kass can fill that role.

Gillis would trade for another centre before that happens. Lapierre on the third line makes it much less of a threat to score, and Ebbett on the fourth line would be unacceptable.

I'm just going to guess you've never seen Schroeder play?
He is amazing in his own end, good on faceoffs, smart with the puck unlike Hodgson.
I just JSchro end to end.

Get used to it from this poster. Some Canuck 'fans' are constantly hoping that our prospects falter simply because their success would mean that all of their loudmouthed criticism was unjustified.

Absolutely not, not with the 4th line wingers we have. Guys like Volpatti and Weise aren't gonna get much ice time compared to Lapierre.

Higgins. Its not a lack of bad play but Hansen is playing too well and Schroeder has been making everyone he plays with better, a lot better.

I wouldn't put JS as an option just because I don't want Ebbett anywhere near the ice. JS has pretty much locked himself on our 3C spot, unless we get a center via trade.

My lineup:

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Booth-Kesler-Hansen
Raymond-Schroeder-Kassian
Higgins-Lapierre-Volpatti/Weise

I've always though Kesler and Hansen work very well together.. both hard workers who have great speed and a great shot. Kassian adds some much needed size and grit to that 3rd line. Higgs and Lapps have been great together, we have the luxury to balance and roll all four lines.

Don't even bother man... nuck nit has had a constant "hate" towards Schroeder for some particular reason. He was all for Ebbett being in the lineup over JS. Maybe he has his reasons, but in my mind, Schroeder has been nothing short of excellent thus far.

People keep forgetting that, although I don't want this to happen, the chances of a forward getting injured is always there. This seems to happen more times than not to AV in the last few years to make these decision easier. Let's just hope it's not any of our core forwards that go down. Otherwise, S.S. Mullet has it right. Volpatti and Weise will battle it out to see who will stick in the line-up if there are no further injuries.

It would be a mistake to put Kassian on the 4th line. One of his great virtues is that he is a big, strong, tough physical player with enough skill to play top 6 -- keeping the other teams honest.

Of course he could play on the 4th and do spot duty on the other lines when toughness is needed, but it is hard to get in a rhythm that way.

Right now it is far from obvious that Booth is more valuable than Higgins, Kassian, or Hansen. (And he cannot play centre, so he is not going to replace Schroeder, as others have pointed out.)

I say Booth starts on the 4th line with some spot shifts further up in the order until he shows he belongs to go back the second line with Kesler. At that time, it is just a matter of who is hot (or cold) among Higgins, Hanson, Raymond, and Kassian. I am guessing that Booth will eventually move to the second line and Higgins will move to the 4th in place of Volpatti.

Why on earth would you want Ebbett? What does he bring to the table? He is too small to be an effective fourth line centre. He gets exploited down low and he is not skilled enough to play anywhere else. The people who want Ebbett in the lineup seem to only want him there because they don't like Jordon Schroeder and not because of Ebbett's own merit.

Nobody will get demoted.

The 4th line will be slightly better with whoever joins it and be able to handle more ice-time.

Also, if it's Hansen (most likely), he'll just play shifts after a PP more often and PK 10-12 more seconds per game.

I have no problem with this. I'd love to see Vandemeer take Weise's spot on the 4th line. That "fight" he got tuned up in and the stupid penalty he took in the Dallas game made my blood boil
Volpatti has much more up side IMO, and Vandemeer brings *real* grit.
He seems like a real "ggod" guy. Just not a real good hockey player, IMO.
