:picard:

Why trade Gudbranson who'll likely be a staple on their blueline with Kulikov for Edler?

Why trade for Schneider when they have Markstrom, and Hubredeau is outscoring everyone on the Canucks in his rookie year?

No, we don't need Schneider, or Edler for that matter. We're rebuilding.

That would be an amazing deal for the Canucks, but I don't see Florida trading away their future core.

Schneider straight up for Huberdeau is a fair deal.

A future star goalie is far more important to a franchise than a future star forward. For example, you're more likely to win games with Lundqvist than with Crosby.

As is often the case with proposals, the other team's considerations haven't been taken into account. Sure they could use better goaltending, but they don't want another young goalie when they already have Markstrom coming up. More importantly, why would a budget team trade two young stars (on cheap contracts being the key point) to get two more established stars that are on more expensive contracts. Do they do that just to help us out with out cap issues?

No it isn't. Schneider could leave as a UFA in two years.

I have to disagree here. Schneider has shown nothing to suggest he will be a future star goalie. Huberdeau is going to be a superstar. There is zero chance Florida does this deal.

I have to disagree here.

Schneider has done everything to suggest he will be a star goalie in this league for a long time.

Define contributing. Because those guys haven't done anything on the score sheet since Moses wore short pants.

I'd love to hear your arguement.

Full 82 game season rookie pace;

Huberdeau - 37 Goals 17 Assists

Stamkos - 24 Goals 24 Assists

I can make the same post about Huberdeau. His draft pedigree, his success in junior, his absolutely elite offensive skills. Huberdeau is one of the best prospects to come from the Q in a while now, I fully expect him to become one of the top centers in this league. Some already consider him a favorite to win the Calder this year.

Schneider while a great goalie has never been a starter for a full season's duration. It just not the way Tallon operates to trade a young up and coming top line center when its been a need for Florida for years. Florida will never trade Huberdeau, blue chip prospects are seldom ever dealt. The only current example I remember is the Mike Richards trade that saw Brayden Schenn go to Philly. So unless you are willing to put Kesler on the table, I wouldnt expect Florida to be keen on moving Huberdeau.

Ding ding ding.

To get assets, you gotta give assets. Philly gave up Richards and Carter, and essentially got Voracek, Brayden Schenn, Couturier and Wayne Simmonds in return. All of them are looking great. That'd be ALMOST equal to us trading away Burrows and Kesler.
