orango
PHI: Sean Couturier ARI: Keith Yandle As both players have been rumoured to be on the block, I think it makes perfect sense. Arizona is looking for a strong offensive presence, while Philadelphia is looking for a veteran defender. Don't harp on me too much if the value is off haha. What do you all think? Who-berdeau
The appropriate value is there. I think this trade is both fair for each team seeing as philadelphia needs a true top 2 dman. And the coyotes really need a first line center in the future. Maybe Arizona can add a 2016 3rd? I think this trade is good.
AriGold
PHI needs to add a replacement D.. Sean Couturier + Robert Hagg for Keith Yandle.
Warhippy
I also think the value is there but I think this is one of those trades where depth will go back and forth as well, minor leaguers or later picks.
Monty
PHI needs to add a replacement D.. Sean Couturier + Robert Hagg for Keith Yandle. This. Most times when a forward is traded for a defenseman, the team that trades away their defenseman usually ends up losing the trade. In this case, Philly would need to add something else, without question, to match Yandle's value.
Baka
It's a fair foundation for a trade. As said maybe Philly adds a tiny bit more in a B level prospects or something. I also think Couturier is misused in Philadelphia and would see an increase in production on another team. Even getting 18+ minutes a game and 19+ last year he gets the hardest minutes. They spam him on the PK, last year he was #1 in most PK minutes among forwards and this year he is yet again very high up there. He gets limited PK time with the lower ranked players and spends the rest of his ice time exclusively matched up against the other teams best player. I feel like if he goes to a team that doesn't force him into those hard minutes he will see his offensive game come to life. (Really I feel Philly has done a very poor job with B. Schenn, Couturier, and previously JVR who exploded after being moved and given a proper role) My only reason not to do this trade from Philadelphia's side though is they are a lousy team being run even worse. Yandle will help but not make them contenders and they will have the rest of this season to dig out of a hole and then next year before he can bolt. Which basically means if they make this trade they need to be serious about fixing the rest of that roster and making other moves. The offense is overloaded with the same types of players and is in desperate need of another skilled winger. Berube doesn't have any idea what he is doing with the roster. He gave up on Lecavalier and is just leaving him a scratch every game to the point where Lecavalier is now just ditching practice. Luke Schenn and Del Zotto (who is actually having a decent year) are now rotating scratches (with Yandle there both will likely be regular scratches). The line ups are weird every night. B. Schenn who is actually having a good year keeps getting moved all over the line up from center to wing and is now pushed aside so a rookie with 2 NHL points can center line 2. Raffl is playing on line 1. Umberger is on line 3 when he shouldn't even be allowed in the arena. Basically they are such a mess it may just be best to start gutting the dead weight players. Giving all the young guys ice time. And taking a run at McDavid.

And if St. Louis could only go back and keep Johnson... ...Usually I find that the price for a good D is so high, that the team acquiring them seems like they are losing. Ok, so those are pretty good examples. The main difference here is Yandle, unlike the others (won't include Johnson because they received Shattenkirk in return as well), is one of the highest scoring d-men in the league on a consistent and proven bases. And, if I'm not mistaken, usually leads his team in points (including this season). But yeah, I guess I was more thinking about big name defensemen traded over the years (i.e. Pronger in every trade he was involved). Ryan McDonagh wasn't a big name at the time, but I guess that's another example. My point was, if/when Arizona ends up trading Yandle, who is easily their best player, they should trade him this season and for a massive return. Phil_314
I think B. Schenn might be a more desirable option for the Coyotes. Arizona already has Vermette, who's 32, and Hanzal who's not that old at 27, to play tough, two-way minutes. If Brayden won't leave without Luke maybe throw in Erat? Both the add-in's aren't having the best year. OP, your deal looks good too, though.
Bieksalant
Philly is a mess , these deals dont make sense unless they dump some salary adding yandle's contract and the foolish 4.5 mill erat is making makes it impossible to complete. B schenn is like 2 mill and luke is around 3.6 mill. Not enough salary gone to make it happen.
