BanTSN
We would've had our 2nd already, at least, if Jim Benning traded Matthias like he was supposed to. For a GM in a rebuild mode, he has a funny way of managing assets.
Tom Sestito
By the end of next week we may have one less goalie. Canucks will get a second or third round pick. Real bold predictions here guys. Bieksa goes for a 3rd or 4th. Lack, sadly, will go for the 35th to Carolina. Vrbata gets moved because the Canucks only need meat and potatoes. Canucks end up with 4 picks in the top 100 of the draft.
BanTSN
Bieksa's worth just a 3rd or 4th? An opposing team takes that steal and runs. Benning's been real friendly to his opposing GM buddies so far.

I would be happy with that trade.

I would be happy with that trade. At the end of the day Benning screwed up immediate future cap when he signed Miller and Vrbata to too much and then followed it up with Tanev, Sbisa and Dorsett overpayments, so he has no choice but to approach guys who want to be here to leave. If you had to play with Sbisa all season long, you'd suck too.

If KB waives he won't get a lucrative contract next year so I don't think he'll waive at all. He's a pretty smart guy. I think he has a degree in finance or economics or something like that. Time after time players have waived, gone to new team and not performed well in the last year of contract with a new team, particularly at the trade deadline. I see Hamhuis going before Bieksa, he'll fetch a much better return. Vrbata won't get traded until trade deadline either. Ofcourse this is all conjecture which makes it fun. luongotv
Just a little tid-bit from myself... I went to school with Prince Albert Raiders D-man Brendan Guhle. Kid is very dedicated and an awesome guy too. I was actually talking to him just a few days back about his exceptional performance at the combine, could be a good mid-late round pickup. If you had to play with Sbisa all season long, you'd suck too. Tanev and Vrbata are paid fairly.. Vrbata scored 30 goals, Tanev shut down other teams top players. Bieksa makes 4.6 million. That is criminal. Sbisa makes 3.6, also criminal. Dorsett's pay is not too bad, but four years definitely is. Miller's contract is $&!#. Benning would never admit it. Benning is stubborn from my opinion. He will not go back on a mistake that he feels he's lost value on.

Grape
No way. The draft is right up there as my fav time of sports calendar. Always has been. Can't wait till draft day. Yes I look forward to it too every year. However, when you think of it, some of the kids people talk about 24/7 for months in heavy discussion barely make an impact in the NHL. Even if drafted, the percentages of being a regular NHL player are so incredibly low. The heights these players are expected to achieve are more than 90% of the time not achieved. It kinda makes me cringe looking at fans of a certain team after they picked a first rounder being like, 'future first line winger for Sidney Crosby blah blah he'll succeed him as captain too one day.' Even on CDC where there's status updates about our future first line or second line being the top 6 forward prospects we have, the chances of that happening are so small and people hype it up to make it seem like it's a sure thing. In my opinion all the hype does is create immense pressure for these guys
