Edmonton, yawn, was always going to have a quiet deadline.  Just one hockey trade. By design.

Wishing Klefbom a speedy recovery and great play off with Boston. We picked up fwd Sam Reinhart.

Its just a sign of where we are at? 300 points out of the plat off's. Not 1200 anymore. Waiting for some of our kids to arrive. Wanting the next layer who arrives to get us over the hump. Nit simply fill in. Give our team, their families time to gel, grow up together.

Thanks for all the work u are doing @canuck2xtreme. Good luckwith the balance of the deadline everyone!

CBJ is looking to add one forward and one defender on playoff bound teams. PM @Rush17 If you wish to talk trade! Looking to move out Hartman, Seeler, Zacha, and Murray potentially. We are off to a good start but we have lots of work to do yet! We are up against some real titans in the east. Happy trade deadline trading my friends! Go Jackets! (Adjusted based on NHL Ice-time)

TRADE: The New York Rangers have made a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

To NYR:

To TOR:

small.png Joonas Korpisalo

This was a heartbreaking decision to make, on account of Joonas being so dear to our club. Definitely a personal favourite, and we spoke with Mr. Korpisalo to let him know that.

On the bare facts, we feel that Joonas and Mark moving on from our active roster was one way we could significantly alter our future for the better, because we knew that most folks appreciate the Finnish Tendy as much as I do. We absolutely wish all four players the best for the future as they depart the Big Apple for Hogtown.

Hogtown
There are two main theories regarding the origin of this popular porcine nickname. The most plausible (to my mind) concerns the stockyards William Davies Company, which was once one of Canada's largest meat packers. Davies, whose company popularized peameal bacon, processed half a million animals at his Don River plant in 1900. Davies died, ironically, after being kicked by a goat aged 90.

An alternative is that "Hogtown" was an insult levied at Toronto because of its tendency to dominate affairs at Queens Park. "In the smaller cities of the Province when a man wants to say nasty things about Toronto he calls it Hogtown," read a Globe editorial in 1898.

We of course would never have considered this move without the amazing and talented gang coming back to us. Phoenix Copley will take the backup spot vacated by Korpisalo, a highly skilled netminder we believe Phoenix will be a valuable backup to Semyon and the battery will be very good for us going forward. Joseph Woll wll hone his craft on the lakers for now, but we certainly look forward to seeing him battle for crease and push our stalwart defender, Semyon Varlamov, to even better levels of perfection.

Connor Carrick offers us a sleek mobile and offensive defender, whose numbers reflect his spotty health the last two years. Missing 25 games with a messed up finger since late October. The year prior was 27 missed due to a foot injury, although, he was re-signed twice in the NHL since his 2013 ELC and we have seen enough of his game to decide adding the 25 year old would be worth the consideration. Connor will fill Mark Borowiecki's vacant position on the depth chart. We look forward to seeing him battle in camp for a PP spot and a regular lineup position.

Two time WHL all star Brayden Burke has been compared to Johnny Gaudreau, in that he is a 'sink or swim' kind of player due to his diminutive stature. Down in Tucson up to now, with the AHL Roadrunners, Brayden has put up a point per game campaign after his pro rookie season last year where he managed an already good 33 points in 67 games. As of now, this season he has 50 in 49. Fantastic numbers for a 5'10" 165lb guy. I have often said "too short" over the past decade, however, the sneaky good are more and more finding a way to be taller than the ride's cutoff line for the NHL. I am ready to change my toon and embrace the best of the skilled shotty's. lol as the two time WHL 100+ point scorer went undrafted, clearly I am not the only one changing his mind on the vertically challenged. (*despite years of heckling "TOO SHORT" at Royals games, we see now Detroit enjoying Joe Hicketts at 5'8" who right now has 26 points in 48 games with the A's Grand Rapids Griffins, and over 20 NHL games so far at 23 years old)

Dmytro Timashov rounds out our infusion of sub 6-foot talent. The 23 year old winger can explode to win races and has a sweet O-zone pass and gift for the making the biscuit go in the basket. recently claimed off waivers in the show by nhl's Detroit Red Wings after proving himself all season long on TOronto's 4th line, which can't be easy for a 5'10" player, coupled with his offensive prowess was enough to convince our scouts of this young man's future being rather bright.

Taken as a group, we are confident that we got better and deeper as an organization, and for that we thank RL. for the opportunity to have talks and for taking back some guys we felt would be best served with opportunity's elsewhere.

We are committed to being better next year and we have lots of playoff bound assets for your consideration folks; make the Rangers better next year, as you gear up to be better in the playoffs this year! No call will go unanswered by the Rangers War Room.

Rarely mentioned, but worth a look perhaps to cup hopefulls: Chris Gibson is available and on an expiring affordable 1.1m deal.

THinking in terms of the Louis Domingue acquisition in Vancouver....Chris Gibson is a depth option backup for your backup in the playoffs and can be had for your last pick or a prospect. Shrewd GM's can reach out and get just a tick better in the here and now for a very small price. :)
