Any goalie can win on a good team.. Canada goaltending sucks from previous years. It doesn't take a genius to realize that. Holtby has the potential to become a great goalie but right now I wouldn't trust anybody but Luongo with the goaltending in the Sochi Olympics. That means alot, considering back in the 90s and early 2000s we had more than 1 to pick from.

It is because our goaltending sucks that is why. Luongo is probably the only person that can win in goal out of all Canada even our world junior goaltending sucks. Just because he is starting for our crappy goaltending team doesn't make him elite. I have no bias, I just choose to face the reality and don't stay a fanboy. He was 24 in 10-11. He hasn't even reached his prime. That is like talking about Luongo when he was 24. What is the point of arguing a 48 game season? It means almost nothing since goalies show their better stats when they are playing more games. Even in shootouts Quick is the better goalie, here let me show you.

Crawford, Holtby, Price and Luongo are all elite according to you I guess. Just because they make team Canada for Olympics doesn't mean they are elite goalies. Again you are bringing stats from 5-7 years, let me bold this for you so you can see it the question is, IS HE CURRENTLY ELITE?

Quick won the Conn Smythe in 2012 and he won the Cup. That was average? Doesn't make any sense whatsoever. The question is he currently elite? Not in a whole career and you answered no those are not elite stats to my previous post which was are Luongo's 2011-12 stats elite. Luongo isn't currently elite. Luongo isn't putting up elite stats (don't bring in the 48 game season, 48 game seasons means nothing it is only half a season). We will have to wait for a comeback season, then this discussion can continue. I hope Luongo proves me wrong and gets us our first cup, but I believe Luongo isn't the elite goalie he was once.

Just look at the question of the OP, is Luongo currently elite? The stats I gave you speak for itself. Luongos 11-12 stats. 2.41GAA. .919%. Are these elite numbers? Just answer it I don't want to hear your excuse.

2011-12 stats for Luongo. 2.41GAA, .919%. That is not the stats for an elite goaltender.
