  1. People think he's bad cause it's technically a cap dump for Tampa, but it's not like Tampa would have had trouble finding suitors for Miller. He's worth his contract.
  2. Still pretty surreal to me that we got Podkolzin at 10. Every time I open CDC and come to the prospects section I can't help but smile
  3. Don't say that, at least he led to Christian Erhoff. It was that guy right?
  4. Step off the ledge and dry your tears buddy. I am sure we won't be missing 2021 Brendan Gaunce.
  5. Honestly, he might score more here with more ice time and playing with Petey and Boeser.
  6. EI wish the condition was if we missed the playoffs the pick became a 2nd rounder. Seems like a steep price for him but hey. He’s a good versatile Winger/Center option. Has good overall health. I have a good feeling the pick will be late teens early 20s anyway. Team is on the come up. Kids need playoff experience. Missing out this year. Draft high in a good draft class. Sign Barrie next summer. Make playoffs in 2021. Give em the 31st overall pick. Alls good.
  7. To be honest, we need help on both wings. I don't think we should be banking on Virtanen or Lind filling the 2nd top 6 RW role. Being left handed it should be no problem for Podkolzin to play either wing, but I'd like to see him stay on the right side.
  8. Beginning to think the CHL isn't the top of the food chain for developing players anymore (as far as draft eligible players go). Look at Thomson and Juolevi, the former wants to go to Liiga and the latter both he and management agreed it was better to leave London, a notoriously great CHL franchise, for Liiga. At some point beating up on kids is a waste of development time. You can't simulate the speed and strength of men. The speed and athleticism of professional goalies. That's the edge leagues, even lesser leagues, in Europe have. College has the benefit of a shorter season in terms of games played that allows these kids to workout and practice more while also playing against older players than the CHL offers. And the lack of scouting in Europe/Russia helps some of their players fly way under the radar, on top of societal stigmas and biases we have towards Euros/Russians. Look at all the talk about Podkolzin. Guy is a top 5 pick that fell because of Russian stigmas. Euros are constantly talked about as soft and what not. Hell Seider was so underscouted people like myself thought him going before 15 was a stretch. Canadians are being overrated and players from other leagues are being underestimated.
  9. Shirokov busted, therefore they all suck and are selfish wienies. I hate them. They are just gonna bail to Russia.
  10. Can we at least wait until Benning drafts Lind in the 2nd round before we flip out?
  11. I doubt they got this far in the NHL game by only having one guy on their list. Lol. If I had to guess they wanted to trade up for Zegras. I really think they caught wind of what Detroit wanted and what Edmonton wanted and knew they were getting one of Zegras or Podkolzin at 10 and decided against trading up. I highly doubt they are upset with how it turned out. Podkolzin screams Benning guy.
  12. Miller is on my wishlist too. Ferland is interesting. He's got some injury question marks but him alongside Petey and Boeser would be pretty deadly. If I had to choose though I'd lead more towards Anders Lee than Ferland but Ferland will likely be the cheaper option.
  13. If I had to guess management wanted Zegras or Podkolzin. In that order. They probably backed out of a deal to move up when they caught wind Edmonton and Detroit were coveting D-men. It meant that one of if not both of them would be available at their pick. Maybe I am giving them too much credit but it makes sense when you think about it.
  14. All the scouting reports I read said exactly this too. Which is why I didn't care about him not being in the AHL or CHL. Kid is pretty ready. Let him mature and finish becoming a man at home. Which is perfectly reasonable.
  15. I mean, if the rumors about HasselHoffman are true it might be a good thing. Can let them distract each other instead of harassing other play's spouses.
  16. Not sure Colorado values a 2021 1st rounder given they'll be a playoff contender around then. They'd probably want Stecher in that package too. Especially since for all they know that 1st will be garbage cause we are gonna be flirting with the playoffs around then too. Something tells me a Barrie deal died when we selected Podkolzin. Colorado probably wanted more than we were willing to part with. If that Juolevi, Virtanen, 10th overall deal is even partly true Benning gave them a hard no. I say we laugh in their face next summer when we sign Barrie for "free", IE not giving them anything. If I am Toronto I probably ask for Jake in that package instead of Goldy. Goldy is a lot of what they already have. They could use a guy with a bit more bite to compliment the scoring talent they already have. And they will need to replace the two way play of Kapanen. Jake does that better than Goldy does. Although could also argue Granlund could fill that bottom 6 role as well but his value is low. Edmonton wants cap out, especially cap they have used on their overpaid d-men. Adding another 2.5-3mil d-man probably isn't in their plans.
  17. It made perfect sense that Van and Detroit would swap picks given who they likely wanted. I am guessing Benning was banking on one of Zegras or Podkolzin being around at 10 though with the way the draft was going and decided moving up wasn't worth it to give up a 2nd rounder. Yzerman probably had a feeling Holland was eyeing Seider at 8 too. Both parties were likely fine nixing a deal.
  18. With Seider and Draisaitl, gonna have to start putting some respect on Germany's name. I was growing on Seider at 10 as time went on but I still coveted Soderstrom or one of Krebs, Boldy, Zegras and to a very limited extent Pod, cause I didn't think he'd fall to us, more than Seider at 10. I am not afraid to admit when my assessments are off though. Seider if anything was gonna be the under the radar gem of the draft. Looks like Detroit has the stones to take the plunge. Can't wait to see how he turns out. My ass gonna end up in someone's sig for doubting Seider at 10. LOL.
  19. Yzerman makin' me look foolish too. I was of the mindset Seider at 10 was a big reach. I am glad Detroit got him though. I honestly feel Detroit is the best at developing players like that.
