  1. Does this mean Aho accepted it or is it just strictly an offer Montreal has made? Honestly, this is where I expected an Aho deal to end up. Carolina apparently offered 7 and Aho is apparently asking for 9.5. So it'd make sense for a final deal to end around the 8.5 range. Lol.
  2. To be fair pretty much that entire team struggled this season. I agree with him playing smaller than he is though. I don't think very many are, at least they shouldn't be, expecting him to be some crease clearing bully. He's decent offensively, decent defensively, and has good size and fills a dire need as a top 4 RH d-man. Given more PP looks and playing with Hughes or Edler will likely give him a pretty decent boost in scoring totals. For 6 mil it's not bad. Decent term, decent dollars, decent top 4 player. Knock on wood, hopefully he can stay healthy here. The biggest thing plaguing our defense is almost always health.
  3. 5.5 for 3 years. Hmmm. It's not as bad as people say, he was used primarily defensively last season and was injured for a fair bit of it and most of the good free agent D options were/are gone. But I think at 3 years 5mil would have been more reasonable. If he stays healthy he's a good two way D-man that gives you quality 20 minutes of ice time a game and 30ish points. BUT this makes the Edler contract look really good. Had twice as many points in 9 more games while playing 24 minutes a game. I wonder what Edler would have got on the open market if this is what Stralman is worth.
  4. Myers averaged 20 minutes a game last season and averages roughly 23 a game over his career. But yeah, a 3rd pairing d-man Legit if this were Toronto they'd be gushing over a Rielly/Myers duo and how it is gonna bring them a cup.
  5. Bottom 6ers making fewer than 3mil. Who'd have thunk it?
  6. Pretty injury prone the last 3 years. Good value if he can stay healthy.
  7. The exact deal that was rumored yesterday. That doesn't sound suspicious. But that Luongo contract? Definitely destroying the integrity of the game. Better punish us.
  8. 22 mil for a winger and a goalie, I'd say they dodged a bullet there.
  9. Not bad. Columbus needed to bring in someone. Hopefully it’s in the 6mil range.
  10. Given the other deals given out today, I say this is a win.
  11. Damn shame. He would have been a great 7/8 guy. On the bright side we got Fantenberg. Amirite?
  12. Shopping in the bargain bin is the way to go until we are free from Eriksson and Luongo.
  13. Quite the payday for one 20 point season. I get he has some bite to his game but, I dunno. Feels like a not so great deal for Tanev. I am rooting for him to keep up his play from last season though.
  14. I am sure Artemi Yashin Panarin will be a great addition.
  15. Didn’t Aho say he wasn’t gonna agree to any offer sheet?
  16. Perry at 1.5 isn't too bad, even if he can't stay super healthy 1.5 isn't much in today's NHL. Worthwhile gamble. Guy is still good for 30ish points. Decent depth scoring.
  17. Marleau contract. I think term is what killed a re-sign. 3 years 7 mil for a soon to be 35 year old is pretty steep. Karlsson deal also doesn’t help.
  18. Love me some Connolly, but something about him has me thinking he'll be another Gagner. A better functioning Gagner to be sure, but if Edmonton backed out of Connolly that's gotta be telling about his asking price for one good season. He averages roughly 12-13 minutes a game, generally good for 20-25 points. Had a career year in a contract year. Wouldn't hurt to try him out with Pearson and Bo for the right price. No more than 4 years and no more than 4 mil though.
  19. And people complained about Vancouver not trading the Sedins. At least we didn't go out and re-acquire guys like Lapierre and Rome like what Chicago is doing. I hope they go out and trade for Andrew Ladd and Byfuglien too.
  20. Other than Eriksson how are his free agent signings below average? Gagner was a bottom 6 guy. Schaller, a bottom 6 guy, and really those are the only notable bad signings and it wasn't like 2 of those 3 crippled the team going forward. Even the Eriksson signing won't cripple this team going forward. Vrbata was great in 1 of his 2 seasons. Miller was great in all 3 of his seasons. Bartkowski is whatever, one year deal. MDZ got us Schenn and a 6th. All things considered was a whatever signing. Beagle and Roussel were great signings imo. Roussel fills a role nobody else really does. And Beagle is Sutter lite. If anything his signings are average, since he's only had three real notable ones. Vrbata was a short term deal and one of those two years was great. Miller played great for us and provided leadership. Eriksson sucked. Beagle and Roussel are great pick ups. Everyone else is forgettable and/or are nothing signings. I think his "bad" free agent signings are overstated. If the worst case scenario from his free agent signings is bottom 6 reclamation projects not panning out and one bad big-ish contract I'd say he's doing pretty good. His signings are so hard to judge cause they were mostly all bottom six/3rd pair d-men signings. His big moves he is 2 for 3 imo. Hard to give him a negative rating in free agents when none of the big names have ever really considered us as a real destination cause of our rebuilding status. Short term deals on bottom 6 players not panning out is not enough for me to ding him in the free agent department. The next couple off seasons though, this will be a real test for his ability to bring in free agents.
  21. How does one look at a team in the eyes and expect nearly 12mil when you never hit 90 points in your life? Kucherov is a 9.5mil player and just walked away with 3 prominent awards. The only award he's won was the Calder that he won as a 24 year old. This guy is a 8-9mil guy. Tops. The league is bending us over cause of Lu's contract but continues to allow teams to grossly overpay Free Agents. GMs: Hard cap is too restrictive!!! Also GMs: Here Panarin, take 12mil for 7 years :D
